Selling a lightly used Leupold Vx3i 4.5-14x40mm scope. Purchased new and had it on my rifle for less than 50 rounds. Been stored in safe. Zero marks on it. 30mm tube, varmint hunter reticle. $475 TYD. Will throw in a set of Tikka Talley low rings for $25.
I don't think it would be necessary. Most of the roads are pretty easy to get around, just a little washboarded. All of the areas I hunted atv's were not allowed on trails.
If you get 2 miles from the road you should see elk no problem. I saw a small 4x4 bull on the first day I packed in 1-2 miles. The next 2 days I hunted with another guy closer to the roads and we didn't have much luck. The 4th day I went back out by myself and packed in 2 miles and got on a...
I had a pin exactly where you are talking about but I never made it there. I hunted the Elk Head Mountains to the west in unit 4 and killed my bull pretty early so I never made it over to unit 5. Be prepared for deadfall because it was very bad when I was there. I started hunting on the 12th...
There were a lot of hunters camped on the main forest roads but I never really had an issue getting away from them. Access is good in the unit with plenty of roads. I like to get as far as I can from roads and hunters so I backpacked in for 1-2 nights at a time as I moved around.
I only hunted unit 4 and tagged out on day 4. Had planned to hunt 5 as well but never made it. Not a bad unit, not too steep and rugged but there was deadfall everywhere I went so it made it difficult getting around off trail. only other negative was there was a lot of cattle and sheep grazing.
If I could draw it with 2 points again I probably would. Don't know if it's worth more than that but options are a bit limited for CO archery in that point range.
When I hunted there a few years ago the wilderness area was packed with hunters. I ended up going north of Weston Pass Rd East slope of Weston Peak and got into plenty of elk and no hunters. I pulled a camper and stayed at Buffalo Springs campground but there is plenty of dispersed camping all...
I drew an archery elk tag for these units this year. It will be my first time hunting the area so I can't help you now but PM me at the end of September and I'll let you know what I saw.
I finally will have some time this year to make 2 trips out west and I plan to hunt antelope in Wyoming early October. I am currently sitting on 3 points. I cannot decide whether to use my 3 points or to save them and hunt a unit that takes 0 points and come back in a year or two when I can...
Keep in mind that 47 became a draw unit this year due to continued reduced elk numbers. PM me your area and I may be able to answer some questions. I've hunted the unit several times.
