Non-hunting vacation- Washington, DC
i went with my family when i was a sophomore in high school. as many have said - the capital tour, arlington, the monuments, and smithsonian’s were great. one evening we caught a play at Fords theater, that was quite an experience!- RedRaider13

Unit 36 NM on fire.
Looks like the forest service just closed the Wilderness area in Unit 36 through December 31,2021 due to the current fire. Hopefully they will open things before September, but figured those of you with tags would want to know... —- Ruidoso, NM, May 2, 2021 – A closure order has been issued...- RedRaider13

They indicate it has already burned 4000+ acres west of the 2012 burn so far. 0% containment. Not looking good for unit 36.- RedRaider13

Early Archery New Mexico unit 36 tactics
I’ve hunted 36 several times. As others have stated it is rough, steep, unforgiving country. That being said, be in shape get up high and glass at first light. You will see elk, you just have to be prepared to go through hell to get to them. Once you put your plan together, feel free to DM me...- RedRaider13
