well we are led by a Governor from CA who doesn't know where to put his penis! I moved to the western slope to "get away" from all those crazy leftists... and my neighborhood continues to fill up with Californians... and boomer Denverites.. Wish I could move to another state...
my take down longbow uses carbon express heritage 250 with bow specs 52# @28" its 60" bow my draw length in a compound is 29.5
got me a few elk with it... I cant pull it back anymore with my shoulders both smoked! hope that helps
yup I know how to read;) trying to ask questions and offer suggestions because OP and his buddy obviously lack experience and would like to help people find their elk so they don't just go around shooting multiple elk a year... I came across 5 dead bulls this archery season in 9days of...
did you figure out a unit? and how'd it go? Im trying to decide where and how to dump 16 points and have no season or weapon preference. haven't hunted deer in 16 years thus the 16 points. only elk but im getting older and have a flexible work schedule these days so I can hunt more!
how many years have you hunted the same unit? and found elk in the same area? if you are finding elk in the same area 2 or 3 years in a row and not sealing the deal I'd change strategy you've obviously "found" them consistently. some units obviously have more elk than others and hunters as well...
every situation is completely different. a bugle with chuckles and then a further away bugle is likely a leave me alone which I just get really aggressive by closing the distance as fast as possible.
my experience when I locate a bull with a bugle is to cut the distance at least in 1/2 on any...
I would hunt this unit Archery only the first week if you can change the dates! I hunted it in 2021? I couldn't pull my bow back so I hunted muzzy for my first time ever. scouted archery opener and found multiple heards and piles of bulls came back the following week for muzzy and it was like a...
I personally wouldn't hunt with more than 1 person.. if I did hunt with say 3? draw straws for who calls and have 3 shooters. unless there are volunteers? I cant wrap my head around hunting in groups? I watched 7 guys walk past my camp one year thinking they are gonna have a long hunt... they...
I used cameras one year on a new unit.. it forced me to get out and learn the unit so that was a plus... had elk on 3 cameras almost every day.... cool to see all the other animal activities. after the 2nd day of archery there wasn't another day of elk showing up on the cameras. mostly just...
yup he likely turned up hill and soon realized this aint working and contoured or went downhill... if this is a one lung hit anything can happen! Ive walked right past dead elk tracking up hill because they did their best to go somewhere they had in mind and it was too much and the whirl back...
TRUTH! I had a 15 yard pass thru behind both shoulders on a small bull run 100 yards and stop staring at me with arrow hanging out by the fletchings.. after 5 minutes he walked another 100 yards tossing the arrow into the brush... laid down.. an hour later I spent an hour stalking in on him to...
yup... ive witnessed hard hit bulls go straight up down timbered slopes and die... a lot of times.... like my bull this year a bull with cows will try to follow his cows... that's how I found my bull this year with 2 spots of blood 50 yards from where he was hit. A bull hit low will often bed...
welcome to the over inflated Elk hunting we all get to deal with now that everyone wants to hunt out west. I know nothing about WY but I'd look at what you can draw and then go from there... not have a spot you hunted once and try to hunt there with little to no draw success. Maybe I don't...
I don't know how WY draws/success rates are but I wouldn't share points? I live and hunt Archery elk in CO for 25 years now and hunt with my brother. 20 years ago we would fill both tags hunting weekends but it usually took the entire season. so maybe 10-12 days hunting... this year it took me...
to be honest I don't think RMEF would be of help... throw them some money and they will look away and make a public statement of distraction.... an area I hunt(ed) in CO is going thru a land exchange that we've been fighting for years. I got a trespass ticket from CPW that basically said this...
because they trapped most of the 1st release... I think they missed 1? I don't know how many are naturally here and I don't think the government knows either because they were here long before the first release and vote. maybe they know but just ignored that fact so they could push through...
I believe people were trying to get it back on the ballot to rehash it but the powers that be pushed hard for the release behind the scenes. sounds like many people would reverse their vote? I know some pro wolf people in the mix aren't for the reintroduction after the first release failure...
