In that case, I'd say you likely just have to write it off as the reality of whitetails and their reactions. They won't do it everytime, but they will sometimes. Just curious: How quiet is your bow (and your arrows)? I do think aiming a little low is reasonable, given how fast their reflexes are, but your specifics make me wonder if you could quiet your setup down a bit.- Dougfirtree

Wool hunting clothing
I bought a King of the Mountain wool jacket in 1999, I've worn it a lot for stand/blind hunting and ice fishing and it looks almost new. Absolutely bomb-proof. Jeez, it's been 24 years since I lived in northern MN and we used to talk about how the limit was too high and no one should be keeping huge walleyes, slot limits would help, etc... Small towns supporting high school sports
That's great! I'm not a big sports fan, in general, but I get really into my boys' high school teams... Incidentally, I did a stint teaching environmental ed in northern MN. Alexandria school district used to come up and stay with us for a few days every year. Good luck with the deer.- Dougfirtree
