Unless I'm missing something, or you are looking at the non-res special draw, 3 points was no guarantee this year (41.81% chance of getting your name called) and it usually doesn't require less points as time goes on.
With that said, I went with a gen tag this year because I like the unit...
Anybody else have a Southwest Airlines flight booked this week? Closely watching their current cancellation issues hoping they get squared away asap. I'd hate to rebook a flight with another airline for 3x the cost days before departure...
I could be mistaken, but I believe there was a podcast (one of Randy's, I think) with the big game product developer from Sitka talking about just this when he trained the military...rewarming exercise, or something like that.
Looking out my office window well within the boundaries of MA zone 10, I catch a glimpse of the homeless folks that call the abandoned cars home and who use the nearby patch of trees as a bathroom. This image wouldn't really motivate others to come hunt this unit, so I guess what I'm trying to...
The wildlife experience I remember most fondly was my first ever experience seeing a bear of any kind in the wild. It was in Kodiak when four brown bears came up to our fishing spot a few minutes after we got out of the water. One grabbed a fish out of the river and started eating it, another...
That F&S article was a great read. Some are just built differently. What a life.
"a spare, wiry man with iron-gray hair and the beaked profile of a predatory bird" really paints a picture.
If work around your property factors into the decision, I've been happy with my Kubota sidekick. Deals with trails reasonably well (getting logs and deer out), has a useful dump bed and goes about 40mph instead of their diesel 25mph models that Kubota offers. Not as sporty looking, though.
From what I was able to find perusing the internet and a couple national rental places fine print, if something happens to it off of paved surfaces, it voids the no-liability insurance and I didnt want to deal with that. Many forums also discuss the inadequacy of their tires for unpaved surfaces...
I decided to rent a vehicle from Titus Adventure Company out of Denver, specifically their Tacoma. The standard hertz rental did fine for my 2017 antelope hunt but I am guessing that the roads where I'm hunting could be worse so I wanted to rent a vehicle that I wouldnt have any coverage issues...
I wanted to update the thread with a few purchases that resolved a couple possible issues mentioned in previous posts. I also wanted to provide my current gear list in case it could be useful to other's preparations or reveal any glaring oversights that someone here may be able to point out...
I'm surprised the student loan interest rate was about the same as the trailer loan. I recall some of my private student loans having a rate of nearly 11%.
Not necessarily a numbers approach, but I would dump the student loans just for the fact that just hearing the words "student loans" sends...
I have a Havalon which is nice once the blade is connected, but it seems like you need to carry a pair of pliers just to get the old blade off safely. I did see someone with a Gerber replaceable that looked to have a better blade removable system iirc.
Thank you all for your comments.
Regarding the 30-06, I dont have any doubts about its efficacy. The concern is finding quality ammo in time. I've never needed to search hard for ammo so my experience has simply been the local gun shops. I've recently been introduced to gunbroker, so it looks...
Putting a thread together covering the lead up to my first elk hunt seemed appropriate, not simply for eliciting some comments that could make my trip more enjoyable, but to also keep me honest when I tell myself that I should do a post-hunt writeup. I've enjoyed reading many of yours over the...
