    The last couple years I’ve went to SW MT elk hunting and the # of rigs headed west when I leave and head east is astonishing tons of R rigs with trailers full of mule deer .

    I’m coming to Montana for opener after Elk and just happen to have an antelope tag , I’m not dragging with 2 rifles , so I’ll shoot antelope with my elk rifle …. I think people make too much a of a big deal of “oh that’s too big for antelope” . Good job Chris congrats on your antelope great story

    The main thing fwp doesn’t seem to understand is that ok , maybe the harvest and numbers of deer are about the same , but the harvest amount in certain areas , public , is much higher

    Last one I shot in 22’ I got skin off and meat on ice within 40 minutes of kill . It was about 55 degrees out . I then drove 5 hours home with it on ice . Left in the cooler on ice 48 hours . Then ground it all except the back straps , mixed 10 lbs of bacon in with the roughly 20-25 lbs of meat...

    I’ve shot them after they have been chased for miles by other hunters and I’ve stalked them and shot them while feeding and they taste the same . The key is getting the hide off and on ice asap . If you do that it’ll be some of the best wild game you’ve ever had
