I'm feeling a little pushed out up here in MT.

    Here is the report: https://fwp.mt.gov/binaries/content/assets/fwp/aboutfwp/legislature/2023/hb-593-report-v4.pdf

This graph includes fishing licenses (season, 1 day, etc) as well as hunting. Montana is a destination state for angling, and there are roughly 8-ish million tourists who come to the state every year.

It would definitely give some folks a better understanding of what hunter pressure looks like in other states. It ain't whacking deer in farm fields or sniping river bottom bucks as they come out to find some nookie.

    Never Ending Challenge of Access

Public Access to Lands agreements & Block Management have taken this number from 4 million to 3 million in 5 years (1 million acres opened up). FYI.

    Never Ending Challenge of Access

The answer to these questions are here: https://archive.legmt.gov/bills/mca/title_0870/chapters_index.html And here: https://budget.mt.gov/_docs/execbudgets/2027_Budget/Section-C.pdf PAL provides easements to public land. Currently that is $1 million per biennium & the Governor has asked for...

Again, tell us what you would cut in the budget. The proposed budget from Governor Gianforte has $30 million for long-term agreements with access like easements & leases and around $10 million for block management. FYI.

Yellowstone Park in June, any suggestions on where to stay?

June is magical in the Park. Fewer people than July and it's green & lush. Critters are out in force and doing critter stuff. I'll second @Little Big Man MT Chris on Cooke City/Silver Gate. Incredible spot to start an adventure in the park through the Lamar valley and you're best chance of...

    Shotguns

Buying a used gun from a reputable dealer is also a great way to get in to 2 guns instead of of one. But, if the older Beretta is still good then perhaps hubby gets that while you get the new, more fitted gun.

    Shotguns

Fit helps tame recoil just as much as anything. A good gas gun that fits you well and helps reduce recoil sounds like the ticket.. The shoulder injury makes fit even more important as the recoil impulse needs to be properly directed to help reduce felt recoil. You can always use loads that are...

    Christmas Trees

If you have a Christmas tree before December 15th, you probably eat steak well done. Bunch of weirdos.

    Never Ending Challenge of Access

People leave the program for a lot of reasons, and hunter behavior is one of the biggest. I've lost outstanding river bottom opportunity because people showed up Christmas morning demanding access to a type 2. Other landowners look at leasing and programs like land trust as a better revenue...

Do you ever try to gently educate forky hunter friends or just let it be?

A fawn rear quarter wrapped in bacon & smoked for hours on end is a fantastic meal. Does, fed on grain & grass are incredible table fare A rutted up buck is at the bottom of venison taste. Shoot what you want if it's legal but for ****s sake don't tell me a rutty buck is about the meat. It...

Name & fee change coming to NM

It seems to match a lot of other commissions in terms of staggering them & not giving an incoming governor carte Blanche to restructure a commission & helps transfer institutional knowledge to new commissioners from old. $3.3 million for habitat and non-game is small potatoes but it's needed...
