I noticed the side hustle thread so I figured I’d post the latest batch of fly boxes I just finished. I’m a fisheries biologist based in Bozeman but make these as a side gig out of my garage. They’re walnut, maple, or oak with stones from local rivers incorporated in several tops. The ones with...
Finished another batch. If you look closely at the second picture, you’ll see a tag and fly from a fish the gentleman’s mom caught on a visit out here this spring.
I got a Wheatley as a present when I was a kid (squashed it when I took a nasty spill…) and liked the little compartments instead of strips. Took a stab at something similar this weekend, which I think will work fairly well. Individual bins won’t have covers but shouldn’t be a problem unless...
I took a stab at making an urn at the request of a buddy’s wife after his dog recently passed. I incorporated stones she collected from the Smith River where he used to work. Might incorporate some feathers from a future hunt into a similar box for myself.
In the spirit of Black Friday, here's a couple new walnut boxes that I recently finished. They're both 5.75" x 3.75" x 1" with an internal depth of 5/8". I'm asking $75 for each.
I will not let your indifference deter me! Next one up is a walnut box that’s 4”x6”x1” with an internal depth of 3/4”. I’m asking $135 for this one. For an extra $25, I’ll texture the bottom similarly to the one in the last picture.
If no one bites, I’m going to start guilting y’all into buying...
I’m finally getting around to finishing some fly boxes I’ve been working on this summer. The walnut and maple box is 7.5” x 4.25” x 1” with an internal depth of almost 3/4”. The clear top is resin that I’ve gouged to add the texture. I’ll part ways with it for $150.
I’ve been carrying mine for...
I kept mine loaded growing up until my sling busted and my gun ended up on the ground pointed right at me. Now, I don’t chamber one until I’m ready to shoot. The exception is similar to what Oak mentioned about being in thick timber but I’ve got both hands on the gun when that’s happening.
