I don't believe there has ever been a successful repopulation after a big die-off. The Highlands in MT had around 500 sheep in the 90s they died down to around 50. I think there is about 150 today. I believe they augmented that herd after the die off as well. I also think their estimated...
@MTGomer hit it on the head. If you work for someone you are really never going to "make it."
I know lots of guys that own their own business, do well, but also work their asses off and when work has to be done it has to be done. They aren't dropping everything to take a vacation, unless they...
People that hunt with a round in the chamber are terrified of failure. They somehow think that 2 second delay to chamber a round is going to cost them an animal. I've been dumb enough to even forget to load the magazine...
I've yet to "starve" through a winter. Hell, most people give the meat...
I like your optimism that you belive a tag is possible though. Keeps the dream alive. Let him decide what he wants to do. Seems like its an adult decision he needs to make, maybe he can rotate though and keep the points active?
I presume you know the back story on the wild sheep or lack there of in your backyard in the Gravelys/Greenhorns? If not, the saga is worth the reserch. How one ranch owner can dictate the management of wild sheep is crazy.
The best part is W$F partnered with them, and was selling W$F logo'd...
I was very lucky both trips to RSA on spiral horned game. Had an amazing time, and really want to go back with the family
I can't believe it's been 20 and 16 years. Lots of adventures since, but damn... Time flies
I have an early production ('64) M700 ADL in 308win that was my grampas. It has a big gouge on the but stock from rubbing on the frame of his snowmobile. He traded the horse for a sled late in the season to chase elk, and strapped the leather saddle scabbard to the frame. I also have the...
Thats a tough one, sentimental vs a tool. I will say that my favorite heirlooms are old M70/M700/721 rifles passed form my grandfather/dad to me.
I just couldn't warm up to a SS plastic rifle as much.
Have you talked to any bush pilots? Most of those guys love talking about their planes. A few of the guys I fly with are pushing 70. The young guys scare me the most, to be honest.
I'd love to have a plane, but it never penciled out for me. For me it's way easier to just pay a guy to drop me...
Can you list load data, post some pictures of cases, comparison, and any more data?
I have the fastest 308winchester ever made. It shoots 220s at 4000fps. Trust me.
I'm on my second 375H&H and love everything about that rifle. The barrel is chopped at 20", has a Brown Precision stock, scoped and loaded its about 8lbs total. The M70 I had was 10.5.
I've kille around a dozen animals with my 375s. Ranges from 20 to nearly 400 yards, animals ranged from...
