I would love to go do some public land diy hog hunting in the future but don't want to pay to play on private land. Seems most hogs live and linger on ranch & farm land for obvious reasons.
Any states offering decent public land hog hunting?
This one sounds very interesting with a lot of nuance

Of the big hunting brands, I've only tried FL merino wool & Kuiu Peloton synthetic shirts. I like FL for wearing around the house (I find them a little softer) but when I start sweating, I much prefer the fast drying pelotons. FL merino wool shirts hold onto sweat forever which I hate because my...

Has your preference for backcountry over base camp (day hunts) changed since you got heavily involved with llamas? In the past, you've stated you prefer the flexibility of base camps but again, llama packing in seems the antithesis of this approach. Llamas are with you on most of your...
I am interested in muzzleloader hunting for elk but don't know which gun to get. Any recommendations under $1500?
Additionally it seems like some states like CO outlaw the use of breach action muzzleloaders so preferably not a breach action recommendation
draws? I drew this year in the general draw from the random portion of the tag allocation (drew GEN Elk Type 1 with 1 PP). Has anyone tried for some of the more coveted tags to draw with far less than needed points?
so TSA can access the case without your unlocking it for them or do you just put standard padlocks on them?
do you put factory box ammo in your gun case?
Corey Jacobson talks about south facing openings as where he looks for grass growing but Randy Newberg talks more about northly facing hillsides that are protected from the direct rays of the sun as best. Which is the better source for grasses typically in northern rocky states?
How do you keep your meat out of the reach of grizzlies in the backcountry after you've field dressed the carcass and are making more than 1 trip out?
Is this a realistic method?
is there any risk of losing meat to freezer burn if you thaw frozen meat and then refreeze it after cutting the meat?
I'm flying into my hunting destination and will be driving back east after the hunt if successful. I won't have access to frozen milk jugs but was planning on using dry ice or...
I want to do the butchering but since I'm facing a 20+ hour drive home (if I'm lucky enough to get an elk), I would rather process the game before I start driving. Do any game processors just rent you a bench and space in their facility to DIY the cutting yourself?
I drew a general WY elk tag and I am strongly considering a unit in the heart of bear range. My wife & I spent a week out there and also a unit with almost no grizz presence hiking around last week. We ended up seeing 5 grizzlies in 2.5 days.
We are not so much concerned with bears coming to...
