I hesitate to make this post, but given I have gotten a lot of questions, even some HT members, about the markets recently I thought it may be useful. It is more an economic thread than political one, but it is hard to separate the two these day.
There is an idea going around called the...
Sorry for the need for a subscription. It sounds like wildlife management remains hard.

I thought this was important enough to put here. A recent article in WSJ points out how the economy is driven by the top 10% of earners. (Link attached, may require a subscription). For definition, top 10% of earners are those households with income > $250,000/yr. The data drove the title. I...
Ban on baiting is being proposed to limit CWD spread. From the comments I can see that this is going to be interesting.
Make comments here.

Good article on a study by the two major Universities highlighting the recent problems we have seen in the commission. I guess Smith and Baker want to argue the definition of 'dysfunctional' now. When you get what you want, it is working fine...

Wolves not downgraded from Endangered- against WFWD recommendation
More restrictive Cougar seasons approved
Nothing was really a surprise. What is the plan @HOWL for Wildlife? An election coming up. Do we have statements from...
Heard on the last podcast that @Big Fin was going to try elk hunting solo during archery. I thought it might be useful to give a list of mistakes we solo-archery hunters have made.
I will start - Cow calling without an arrow nocked. Ugh!
Saw this article in the Spokesman that might be of interest to those in NE WA and the ID panhandle. The link to the article is attached as well. She did a similar study on elk in the same area.

Does anyone camp/park in one state and then walk over a state line to hunt with a tag for another state? A lot of NF seem to lie on state boundaries so I would think it is common. And I would guess the rules might vary by state? Thought I would ask here before I start researching individual...
The forecast from the future number of us human a$$holes continues to drop. Probably from the microplastics. Maybe drawing a tag will be easier for our kids and grandkids.
I just finished the Steve Martin documentary. I was just curious on others opinions of either the doc or Steve Martin in general.
I went in to the thing thinking he didn’t rank high on my list as a comic, actor, musician, etc. You know, maybe a 7/10. Then I came out thinking Holy Shit! The guy...
Hunt tag demand
Shortage of workers
Wage inflation
Poor service quality (experienced trains new worker)
Deficits (remember, we tax wages)
I’m sure there are more. I would think this goes back toward long term normal at some point, but it looks very sticky so far.
A good topic for discussion. I can see some positives and negatives. Maybe someone in the area that has seen the work can give some insight.

I try not to post things in haste, but this idea seems to have gained traction on both sides lately. A couple of links below for those that want to dive deeper (The Bloomberg Opinion might have paywall, although I tried gift it). I generally think this is a bad idea.
In summary, one side wants...
Idaho will again set the pace for tag allocation screwups. Good luck everyone.

Thought it best to make another thread as to not destroy @Elky Welky post.

For those that geek out on this stuff, you might want to check out the Cutting The Distance podcast #42 with Jason Phelps and BYU bio-faculty Brock McMillan. Lots of good data from studies being conducted in the state.
