After a couple of nasty windy days this morning was perfect
for turkey hunting.
First day of the regular seasons. the tree gobbling started as early in the predawn as I've
ever heard it.
The old topper .410 definitely did its job !
This weekend was our adult Learn To Hunt turkey hunt , what an enthusiastic and diverse group.
The weather has been wild lately but settled down near perfect for the hunt.
14 new hunters with their mentors had great success.
9 turkeys were taken.
after a tough day Saturday my mentee who...
The first few days just 2 dps near my deck and bird feeders, a 220 conibear cubby in my shed.
then a max of 11 dps for about a week . This last week with 6 dps it's has slowed down to about 1 critter about every other day.
With the low fur prices the Raccoon population as in most ares has sky rocketed.
I figured the ground nesters around here needed some assistance .
Just on my 83 acres.
36 raccoons
8 opossums
6 skunks

There must be some real goodies that grew in the field they are daylighting in so well. I wouldn't think that chopped cornfield would be much of an attraction.
Lost about 50 lbs in 2024 , not real sure because I was too embarrassed to weigh myself at the start. My goal for 2025 is to not find it again.
Also to get another chance at the big buck I arrowed in the scapula.
That buck doesn't look to be too old. A buddy and I both shot bucks , two or three year olds that we did the gutless method , boned out the meat while it still had body heat.
Hung up the bags in very cold weather and both bucks were tough as shoe leather.
we had shot older bucks in...
I think if your friend targeted these guys his drinking problem would go from slight to severe.
I've done over 50 sits on my 84 acres and have not laid eyes on either one. YET.
