    It induces stress in the metal. I expect that they would recommend doing it BEFORE stress relieving. Might not make a big difference in a "hunting" rifle, but might well matter for a match grade barrel. It's their barrel and they can warrant it as they see fit.

    Ask Schmaltz if his optics sales are robust. Aside from being tax time I bet he says that they aren't. Also I've noticed things are slow on various buy sell trade boards with nice scopes going unsold or selling for lower prices. IMO trump is nuttier than squirrel shit.

    IIRC auto loan terms usually specify that you keep the vehicle properly maintained and in good working order or something to that effect. The lender wants to maximize resale value in the event of a repo. If they an't afford payments then they probably not doing proper maintenance.
