    New Scope | 300 yards in low-light

@The Hedgehog - It's impolite to ask people to justify their preferences; however, I don't like any form of Christmas Tree reticle or ones with thick lines. @MIDeerAssassin - Apologies, in my area of Michigan (the Lower Peninsula), baiting is explicitly illegal unless you qualify for meeting...

    New Scope | 300 yards in low-light

    Sorry, that's verboten.
  3. Mr. UML

    New Scope | 300 yards in low-light

@The Hedgehog - I'm using a Zeiss 4-16x50 currently. I think that S&B and TT both make fine scopes, but I just don't care for the reticle design. That's all (personal preference). @Wind Gypsy - I have never used a scope with 40x magnification for hunting yet - I just don't that for what I want...

    New Scope | 300 yards in low-light

Thanks for the input. As noted earlier, I've not been a fan of S&B or TT's reticles.

    New Scope | 300 yards in low-light

You're not saying anything worth listening to. I asked for weigh in on some scopes. Not about how and where I hunt, how good of a shot I am, not about my blind or fields - just regarding which scopes can accomplish my goals. I narrowed it down to 3 and welcome useful opinions.

    New Scope | 300 yards in low-light

@Hem - Cornfeeders in any private or public area that is hunted are illegal in Michigan. In general, baiting is illegal in Michigan, period. @Dave N - The field runs approximately 1000~ yards. If I wanted to go apeshit with this gun, I could upgrade the crap out of it to take it to 500+ yards...

    New Scope | 300 yards in low-light

I'm cool chasing that rabbit hole. I'm going to do it one way or another - so folks can either help me or just talk trash. At the end of the day, I'm looking to see what technology is available to help me assuredly take ethical shots at longer distances. Not building another blind when the one...

    New Scope | 300 yards in low-light

My old-ass binoculars are Bushnells. But I did check out their latest scopes and the reticles are not my cup of tea.
  9. Mr. UML

    New Scope | 300 yards in low-light

@The Hedgehog - Any suggestions? I'm not sure who makes the best glass nowadays. I explained my preference regarding reticles. No idea what the binocular market looks like. @Potsie - Good work on the username. Now, go sit on it Potsie.
  10. Mr. UML

    New Scope | 300 yards in low-light

Perks of getting old is that you can build your hunting blind to make it however you'd like.
  11. Mr. UML

    New Scope | 300 yards in low-light

It's not your typical hunting blind in the middle of nowhere. It comes equipped with many amenities including ... Heated & Massage Swivel Recliner Minisplit for Heat & AC LED TV with Chromecast High-Speed Internet But that's not all ... It is 100% solar-powered! @The Hedgehog - I've never...

    Yup.
  13. Mr. UML

    New Scope | 300 yards in low-light

I don't take pictures much, sorry. I'll try to take one once I get my new scope put on. @Dave N - Your TC ProHunter is a fine weapon. It's not quite a UML / Paramount / Gunwerks-level, but a fine weapon nonetheless. And I don't take shots that are questionable - ever. And as I explained time...

    New Scope | 300 yards in low-light

My farm is classified by the NRCS as a "Preserve" since I have so much dedicated acreage for restoring habitat, in particular, pheasants, turkeys, woodcocks, and ruffed grouse. I have an insane amount of deer here as well - huge ones too. I have no need to go anywhere else.
  15. Mr. UML

    New Scope | 300 yards in low-light

@Nick87 - Thermal isn't legal in Michigan. @Dave N - I never said more money = better. Better = Better. My comment regarding a bag of bricks is that a .50cal muzzleloader drops deer way harder than a .350 Legend. That isn't rocket science. You completely missed my point regarding shootable...
  16. Mr. UML

    New Scope | 300 yards in low-light

@Dave N - You're twisting words. I may be an "average shot", but the "average muzzleloader hunter" doesn't have the equipment or the opportunity to shoot 300 yards. Shooting 2" groups at 200 yards and 100% hitting a 6" gong at 300 yards isn't bad shooting. It's average. @Darryle - Higher...
  17. Mr. UML

    New Scope | 300 yards in low-light

@The Hedgehog - The 6-36x56mm has that "Leupold" cross hair I'm not a fan of. The other scope doesn't have illumination. @Dave N - For many people 3-9x would be fine. The average muzzleloader hunter isn't sitting over 35 acres of field and facing the shots that I am. @TheJason - The .350...

  20. Mr. UML

    New Scope | 300 yards in low-light

That's good shooting. Unfortunately, the type of rifle you were using is not legal in my area of Michigan.
