Anyone else tired of tight groups with sandbags galore?
Shooting prone on the ground across a canyon. Bipod and back pack for rest. Like to practice under hunting conditions after working up load. Steel plate is 12”x12”. -

Spencer's double rifle from the 1923 TV Series
Watched the last episode last night. Thought it was a good series. Also makes you think about how tough people were back in the day to survive without all the modern amenities. Show probably made double rifles increase 10 to 20% in value.- LIK2HNT

A lot depends about how far you drive to hunt. If you drive 12 to 20 hours from home to where you hunt the newer trucks are very comfortable. Especially if towing. Almost better to drive a newer truck and use a SxS or ATV to run the bad roads where you hunt. Hunting close to home I would prefer...- LIK2HNT

Double-tapping with a .243 vs one shot with 30-06?
For CA hunting the 243 with a 80 gr Barnes TTSX-BT. Should be running about 3200 fps to 3300fps. Plenty to get the job done on anything in CA. Was running 168 gr TTSX in a 308. Problem was if you hit both shoulders it made a mess. All deer hit in shoulder were pass through. Copper holds... -

You can also look for a 50 or 45 cal barrel for it. One of my T/C’s I purchased new years ago I got a 54 cal just so I could use a heavy custom 45 cal Green Mtn barrel. What’s this part called? Winchester 1890 22 heirloom repair
Can that be tig welded? Might be another option if you can not find the part. Great old rifle.
