Unfortunately no right to trespass in Wyoming. I had to pay $250 to Dave True for the privilege of having my surveyor cross his property to get a monument located on public land 😡!
I apologize if there was a thread on this that I missed, but I thought folks would like to know that SF0002 Hunting Licenses - Weighted Bonus Point System failed in the House Travel, Recreation, Wildlife, and Cultural Resources Committee yesterday after having passed the Senate earlier in the...
For me it was hunting elk with 11 or 12 year olds (and also my wife). They all liked the recoil of the 6.5 CM (compared to my 270 and 30-06) and the sectional density/penetration is better than the 243. So far, they've killed 3 elk (one shot kills at 350 yds, 350 yds, and 200 yds) shooting 142...
I would also look at hunting in your own home state. Even as a Wyoming guy, I lived in NY for five years and always enjoyed the whitetail hunting there...really good eating!!
Our most successful elk hunting day to-date. I shot the smaller bull not knowing that the big guy was bedded nearby. My 14-yr old was the beneficiary. So proud of him...but hope this doesn't spoil him! We were rewarded with a brutal packout!
We were chasing elk this weekend but didn't find any. Instead, we got lucky with our general deer tags. My son got his first Wyoming mulie, my nephew got his first big game animal ever (two days after his 12th birthday), my little brother killed a decent 3-pt and I had a little luck myself. My...
He's already hooked. This is his 7th big game animal--he already 2 other deer, 3 antelope and an elk under his belt. But this was his biggest deer to-date, so he's pretty pumped! We're heading out next weekend to try for elk.
This is why I sometimes find it difficult to muster up the energy to watch public "listening" sessions or write in with comments. I do sometimes, but it seems like even in the face of overwhelming comments, the decision has already been made.
Looks like the additional landowner compensation is moving forward: https://wyofile.com/wyoming-wildlife-officials-ok-rancher-payment-plan-for-elk-eaten-grass/
Here's an interesting op-ed arguing against potential upcoming legislation in Wyoming related to landowner compensation and tags:

Finally drew an elk tag for my own property (1st time in 12 years) and antelope tags in my first choice area. Will pick up a general deer... should be a fun fall!!
We had to clear half an acre or so, and just mowing it with a rough-cut mower ended up taking out the sagebrush. I try to leave most of it on the rest of my property because I know it's good for the wildlife. But where I mowed it, the grass has grown in much thicker and more lush.
