That's a good way to look at it. I'm just not entirely convinced that "Hunting as a way to feed the family" is entirely honest. Yes there are examples of people shooting a deer/elk/bear/hog in their backyard for the price of a resident tag + 1 bullet, but can we be honest with ourselves in...- TexanSam

Have you seen the price of literally anything (including inputs for hunting trips)? You'll never convince me that out of state hunts that are cheaper than Costco pork when comparing price spent for pound acquired.- TexanSam

Federal Land Sales for Affordable Housing?

Yellowstone Park in June, any suggestions on where to stay?
This summer we went and stayed in Cody. It was kind of a haul to drive all the way back to town at the end of each night. Next time I go I would do this- - Fly into billings, drive the beartooth highway to cooke city to stay for night 1 - Drive into the park day 2 and stay somewhere in the park...- TexanSam

How picky are you on public land when chasing whitetails
I've shot enough 2 year olds in the past. My new philosophy is also to hold out for 4+ year old, and fill the freezer with does, crappie, turkey or anything I draw a tag for our west. It can be rather frustrating though to have logged 30 days in the stand and nothing merited drawing back the bow. -

Hunting here in Kansas. I haven't seen a deer that I want to hang my tag on. Seen plenty of 1-2 year old bucks. One that was 3-4 ish but had a spike on one side. Another that was clearly at least 4 if not 5, but he had broken off both antlers. It seems that each year I push myself to try for a... -

A little off topic here but I never once thought of going mountain lion hunting, but after hearing/reading/watching all things mountain lions, it kind of sparked my interest for them. Maybe a lion hunt will be a graduation present I give to myself (once grad school is complete)- TexanSam
