What kinda calls
I primarily use mouth calls but I always have a friction call. Some days you need that high pitch due to wind and some days they just plain want the friction call over a mouth call. Owl and crow for locators...but coyote, peacock and all kinds of others work. Other than that standard vocals are...- phutch30

Kansas turkey
Studies are showing a small percentage of hens produce the majority of the poults. If you have a declining population its only sensible to reduce the mortality on the weakest point which is hen mortality. Fall seasons typically have high hen harvests. I agree you can do it. My point was why shoot them. There's no advantage to shooting the 160s over the 175-180s out of a 7prc. Why specifically buy a 7prc if you're not going to take advantage of the design specs of it.- phutch30

Why shoot 160gr bullets in a chamber that was specifically designed for 175-180 gr bullets??? If your going to shoot 160s get a 7mm mag or other traditional chambered .284 rifle. The 7prc was designed to shoot the long high BC bullets ...and just dont shoot an elk in the shoulder on purpose...- phutch30

Rifle rebarrel

Elk hunting fort peck Mt
I could never understand why people think MT regs are tough. In the pamphlets they provide a map with the unit number and then the units are listed and regs broken down. I hunt a fair number of other states and to me most of them are much harder to figure out. -

Bird conditions 2023
Im out in the field in SW MT every day for work....Mnt grouse clutches seem to be small to nonexistent, sage grouse seem average, I haven't seen any hun chicks, but have seen a fair amount of adults (they arnt that common here), turkeys seem to have ave poult numbers.
