    Losing 87 miles of refuge

I dont know why they had to go and mess with this. It was the reason so many birds stayed in the area. FWPs management of waterfowl in this state is such a joke.

    What kinda calls

I primarily use mouth calls but I always have a friction call. Some days you need that high pitch due to wind and some days they just plain want the friction call over a mouth call. Owl and crow for locators...but coyote, peacock and all kinds of others work. Other than that standard vocals are...

    Kansas turkey

Studies are showing a small percentage of hens produce the majority of the poults. If you have a declining population its only sensible to reduce the mortality on the weakest point which is hen mortality. Fall seasons typically have high hen harvests. I say kudos to them for taking action. Maybe...

    175 ELD-X or 175 Nosler ABLR

I agree you can do it. My point was why shoot them. There's no advantage to shooting the 160s over the 175-180s out of a 7prc. Why specifically buy a 7prc if you're not going to take advantage of the design specs of it.

    175 ELD-X or 175 Nosler ABLR

Why shoot 160gr bullets in a chamber that was specifically designed for 175-180 gr bullets??? If your going to shoot 160s get a 7mm mag or other traditional chambered .284 rifle. The 7prc was designed to shoot the long high BC bullets ...and just dont shoot an elk in the shoulder on purpose...

    Rifle rebarrel

So, Ive got too many rifles. Ive been going thru the safe and have a semi-custom rifle built on an accurized (action trued, bolt/action squared etc) Browning stainless A-bolt (LA), Carlson's stock. Its currently 7mm, but needs to be re-barreled. Im planning on selling it after the barrel is on...

    Whitebark Pine Video

The WBP listing has been a huge pain for the agencies. Unless there's new or old cones, it takes a DNA test to tell listed WB from limber pine.

    Elk hunting fort peck Mt

I could never understand why people think MT regs are tough. In the pamphlets they provide a map with the unit number and then the units are listed and regs broken down. I hunt a fair number of other states and to me most of them are much harder to figure out.

Montana Mountain Goat- at wits end

This thread is awesome. Reading through it as the posts go from encouragement to rightly deserved ridicule is priceless. I cant fathom why he admitted to going wiggy on his tent etc, but dam it was funny. I still consider the 18 days I climbed around in the crazies on my goat hunt as the best...

    2023 spring turkey!

They scatter to the winds honestly. Try higher elevations at first light to locate, beyond that cover ground to find a active bird
