Silencers, barrel length and cartridges
How far are you planning on shooting? I would hunt with a 16" suppressed 308 without thinking twice. The wind may push it around a little but it would be a deadly combo 400 and in. I just rebarreled a rifle for exactly what you're wanting and landed on a 17" 22 creed that will wear a Ultra 7...- Fire_9

Metalworking Hunttalkers!
It's a crappy picture but I finished up a frame for a hosebed prop at our fire station. Had a company in town make the hosebed itself to mimic our truck so we can keep the trucks put together during trainings. Nothing fancy but a fun little project- Fire_9

Brake recommendation
Since you already have a threaded muzzle I'd just pick up a side port self timing brake. Quite a few of them on the market now. I would stick with your initial thought and skip the radial brake. Don't forget ear plugs for yourself and anyone hunting with you... -
