    Idaho Question

Don't everyone speak up at once! Lmao. Oscar.....I know you have an opinion. Its not like one application is going to screw the odds. I'm happy with a 10% chance on the draw. Merry Christmas btw... Cheers Roadtrip

    Idaho Question

Putting the game plan for my applications for 2006 together now that it is Christmas time and my wife is getting ready to make a big pot of Elk Chili. Since I've taken to the habit of actually trying to draw quality tags, what tag would you put in for in Idaho on a "controlled hunt" and why...

    Should I shoot an ATV

Dan, Love the response by leaving the plug wire where it was last legal. Effective, and definitely would teach someone a lesson. Thats why I hunt wilderness and roadless, I got no use for ATVs and never have liked seeing them in Elk Country. Not meaning to start an ATV war mind...

    First Season Moon- rant on

Wow.....I can feel the love here. I've been around this forum for a long time and the hostility has never been this bad. Always been my idea that being a true sportsman meant treating everyone, even those you disagree with, with respect. Guess I'm old Fashioned or out of touch? As far as the...

    Back from NM

Sorry about the empty cooler JB but I know too well the hurricane deal. My wife is still reminding me that Ophelia pass over head while I was Elk Hunting. Had it Been the Size of Rita, I'd have been gone. You know, I figured your storm would be deadly, it is named after my mother in law...

    How big is this bull?

I would have passed.....a round right through his chest. Damn fine bull. I don't have the kind of patience to pass on a bull like that. Cheers Roadtrip

Utah Man busted for wasting elk

Kinda bugs me cause I go to great lengths to keep the meat fresh. Its good to see that the 19 state compact will hinder his ability to hunt anywhere for 3 years. IMHO it is a good stiff penalty for being lazy and wasteful. Cheers Roadtrip

Back from my elk hunt with no bull

Acon...great story. I couldn't imagine charging two fighting bulls with a bow in my hand. Funny thing, my last night in Grants NM this past week I bumped into a guy with his wife from Minnesota that were just showing up for a "private" ranch hunt. Turns out it was USO and they had leased a...

    Meat in the freezer!

Muzz, Thanks again for helping me out when I was out your way. That meat stayed frozen all the way home without any dry ice in those cooler. Also I am indebted to ya for holding my gear at the house. Any luck yet on your Dad or Bro's tags? Cheers Roadtrip

    Meat in the freezer!

I do have a couple of pics and I'll post them after I get the film done. Wife won't let me take her digital cam in the back country so I just buy those disposable deals. They are light and cheap. Father in Law has never been west of TN so this one was special even if we didn't get that big one...

Help me figure out how to spend my money

DAn, we hunt mahi, yellowfin, wahoo and sailfish any time we want. Well, not during the hurricanes. Seems like every fall I go hunt elk and the wife and kids get the storm. Ophelia expecting to be in our back yard in the am. Cheers, Roadtrip.

    Meat in the freezer!

What a way to start the season off. I'm still here in Colorado relaxing and waiting on the processor to finish my burger and sausage. Day one was a heartbreaker after a wallhanger saw us just as we saw him. Seeing a nice 6x6 here in a public National Forest hunt (San Juan)is a rare thing...

Ok...You want a drop camp and you don't want to get burned? I will give you some things to do up front, to cover your hind quarters so to speak. a) Research the outfitter and the unit. Check guide associations and call the competitors to get reputation and complaint information. Call...
