elmo, My favorites are a tossup between Lyman and RCBS. I use only full length resizing dies. There is one set of OLD Liberty dies in my small collection, they work fine, but have to reset them everytime I use them. WD
You all should have seen the spectacle that deadeye2 just wrote about. I brought up a shooting bench for him that I'd made and this thing wasn't on his patio 5 minutes until this big fata$$ 'chuck paraded out right in the middle of his shooting range, stood up and gave us the finger.
Well let...
I have checked with 3 major reloading sales companies and none of them know (or will fess up to knowing) anything about the ww 748 or 760 being taken off the market.
No response from WW.WD
Hi deadeye ole buddy!! Have I got a deal for you. How about since I'm going to be up that way this week (hopefully) and since you have a load all made up for it, I'll just bring that H-450 along with me. No charge of course.
Danr too bad ya don't live closer we'd split it with ya. Do let...
Gunsmoke, to me it depends on the boy. If he were mine I'd start him out with a 22 bolt action with a 4x scope. This way he'd learn to place his shots.
If you're inclined to buy a semi auto...ya just can't beat a Ruger 10/22. I have put a mountain of ammo through one and it has never one time...
Duster, I hope that Bill isn't any of your relation (I noticed you're from Arkansas too) so that none of the rest of this offends you.
Ole Bill's legacy just keeps getting bigger all the time. Draft Dodger, didn't inhale, stained women's dresses, don't know the difference between a cigar...
Calif. I shoot 28.0gr of ww748 or 26.5gr of H335 using 50gr Nosler Ballistic tips, Win or Norma brass with Rem 7 1/2 primers. As far as groups go, I don't see any difference between the 2 powders. I used to use 4198, and it shot well but the 748 and the 335 meters so easy and consistant that...
Ken, Your response to my questions either caught you on a bad day, or you misinterperted the point or intent (if you will) of them. Perhaps I didn't state the questions with enough background information so that you could see the point of my questions. For that I apologize.
Dealing with the...
Ken, what size groups do these 2 rifles produce at 100 or 200yds? Is the accuracy capability better in one than the other?
Does either one shoot 55-60gr bullets better than the other?
It is amazing to me that the Howell has that low of pressure.
Some where I heard that a short fat stack...
Danr, I think a lot of what kinds of powder a reloader keeps on hand is based on several different factors. How many and what calibers someone may have, rifles, hand guns, shot guns or what have you. Another factor would be thier proficiency in reloading and their willingness to experiment with...
There are 2 beefs that I have on any hunting trip that I can't deal with. First is someone who doesn't follow good firearm and hunting saftey practices. Second is someone who can't handle their liquor to the point that they are a nuisance or a hazard.
Don't get me wrong, an ice cold beer (or a...
JK, DEFINATELY BACK OFF ON THE 4064 LOAD you were talking about for the '06. I shoot 53gr of 4064 using a 150gr and that is about all the pressure I want. So by going with 18gr more bullet you probably should start out at where danr said and work your way up. My guess is that about 49-50gr will...
Calif.hunter, the ones I bought were the #2125 150gr. boattail Spitzer Gamekings (pointed soft point)....wonder if the same applies as the hollow points you mentioned???
WD.
Elkchaser, I tried the 55gr. in my 243 and had no problem with the 4000fps, but the accuracy was so bad at even 3700fps, that I gave up on them. I get much better accuracy with the 70gr even at 3700+fps than with the 55's. The other guys are probably right, the twist in the barrel may make it...
Greek, there's enough of the deer to share with ya. Tell ya what though....how about we send PETA a note to ship them and some XXXXL orange vests for the Elk??
We are still laughing about this back here any way. I just can't believe the DNR hasn't filed charges against them yet.
What is scary...
Would 150gr. 30cal Sierra Gameking bullets at 3200fps be an acceptable choice for approx. 300lb. black bear out to 250yds? What about Nosler Ballistic tips (same speed and cal.)? WD.
Here in Ohio, when deer hunting it is required to wear a garment of blaze orange. A hat is not enough anymore. If and when I hunt deer in this state I wear a vest, last I checked it was a larger fine to be caught without it than to be caught with wacky tobaccy.
PETA did thow a curve to the deer...
Hi elmo, welcome to Moosies, I'm sure that you'll like it here. Our moderator for this board, danr55, is a whiz as is Califhunter and others. They have helped me and many others of all levels of expertise in reloading immensely, so along with welcoming you I'd like to thank them.
Now back on...
Wolfer, I don't recall them ever being called sandhill dogs, he did all of his hunting out near Broken Bow. The ones he had that had the long wirey hair were really intimidating looking, decidedly wider chested than the greyhounds, and they'd finish off a fox in not time flat. The ones he...
