it has been consistently in stock around here all summer. In common calibers that is. I’ve shot it through my 243, 6.5, and 7-08 recently and all grouped well. The brass is just a bonus.
I groped one yesterday at my local shop. I use the word grope because of the way I lusted after it. It was a wmr or it would’ve made the trip home most likely.
I have a 30A, the glenfield version of a 336, in 30-30. I love it. It was my first deer rifle and still gets packed around sometimes. I have a Vx1 2-7x33 with heavy duplex on it in talley lw’s. I shoot the federal premium 170gr partitions or the 170gr corelokts. It’s a 1.5in gun all day long at...
I grew up looking forward all year to the deer camp with my grandpa and the rest of the old timers who had been sharing that camp since the 50’s. Now they are all memories and the camp is no more. I would love to hike in there one more time to find them all waiting on me.
I had a superlite in 30-06. It’s a fantastic rifle. All in weight with a vx3 4-14x40 is like 6.8lbs I think. Super accurate and a joy to carry. Get the limbsaver pad though, it kicks. I’m going to pick up another superlite in 7-08 or 308 eventually. I also have a ridgeline in 300 wsm. It’s a bit...
Just haven’t made the move yet. I intend on it, at least on my AR’s and precision range guns. I’m not sure if it is legal here in Tn or not. I’ve never looked into it for hunting.
I hunt with my 300wsm Christensen Ridgeline with the brake on. I use the wrap around earplugs and keep them around my neck. Keep in mind this is treestand use mostly so I usually have a moment to throw them in. That gun is LOUD. Plus I am already almost deaf in my right ear anyway. I double up...
One of the best public land whitetail hunters I know hunts with a garand. His rifle has been lugged all over these mountains here at home and looks that way. Congrats.
I have the SLC’s. Initially wanting the Zeiss, I laid all those mentioned out side by side and the SLC’s won me over. I’m not sorry I did. Best anniversary present I’ve gotten yet.
I have the solomons and the meindl Denali’s. I have a jacked up left foot and can’t make most pairs work. I’m gonna try the schnees next time I think. Good luck. I understand the frustration.
I saw a new 700 ADL synthetic in 308 the other day. The finish was clean and even, action felt smooth, and trigger broke clean. I think the sticker was $600. Just taking it at face-value I felt that was a great price.
Currently it’s a factory Tikka CTR in 6.5 CM. I have a Christensen ridge line that’s coming along nicely but that CTR is stupid accurate and easy to shoot. Especially for a factory setup.
I have them both. IMHO, there is a significant difference in the quality of glass in favor of the VX5. Especially at max magnification and at low light. Both are CDS models and track as they are supposed to, but as others have said the firedot is worth it’s weight in gold. Overall, weight and...
