How would you "grade" your State?

i'd have to say "C". with all the closures and protected this and that it gets it gets old quick...at least here in southern california.

your first bear/lion dog??

out of walkers, bkue ticks, or black and tans which one makes a good hunting dog AND family pet? are they (all of them) as active as german shorthairs or dalmations? also how would i get started if i didn't have anyone you show me the ropes? is it just trial and error? would i just turn the dog...

feeding cycle??

if you have 100 pounds of bait/food at your site how any pounds do you think one bear would/could eat? i mean if the food is right there in front of him and he doesn't have to go looking for it he could eat till he's full then go off and come back later to feed again. i wouldn't think you would...

feeding cycle??

i think i read somewhere that if you have a bait site and a bear comes in it will be 4 or 5 days till he comes back around again. is this true and what are your experiances with this?

?? FOR THE PRO'S

buffalo...?

i was talking to a guy at work about hunting big game(elk, moose, buffalo, ect.)and he said that he thought that buffalo would be an easy hunt, "like shooting a cow" because they are so big and "every time you see them they are in a herd". it kind of makes sense but has anybody here hunted...

moosie i am seriously thinking of an idaho/wyoming bear hunt. i think i screwed myself for this season here in california...i haven't gotten my tag yet!! i'll have to call tomarrow and see what they say. probably be cheaper in the long run anyway to use a guide and i've never been to either ID...

Pack goat killed by cougar

i gotta get me a goat!!! i'm just not sure where i would keep it. a few weeks ago i went backpacking in the wilderness here locally and my pack weighed something like 40#! the area was great but then weight killed me!! i had sorta abandoned the idea of hunting my bear in that area because of the...

dogs VS. bears...

how does a bear's eye sight and hearing compare with a dogs? a bear has a big ol nose some i assume that they can smell pretty good but i wonder about their other senses.
