I picked up this info from an alaskan outfitters web site>>>>> According to Boone and Crockett the 62nd parallel line is the demarcation between grizzly and brown bear. North is Grizzly, South is Brown. So I guess in alaska according to B&C the only difference between the two bears is...

I saw this question on a trivia persuit type game and I thought the answer was polar bear, but the correct answer was kodiak. Good question, what is the difference between KODIAK, GRIZZLY,and BROWN BEAR??????????

I was wondering if you guys could recommend any good hound hunting books on lion or bear. I just finished one called " The Longwalkers" and I thought it was great. It seems that there are not may books on this subject. Thanks CUBAN
bcat, in terms of male/female kill ratio and the drop in quota it doesnt sound like the lion population is doing as well as you would like to see it in your area. Do you agree with the drop in quota, is there truely less lions now? If so, it would seem that the number of females taken in...
It seems that there is a consensus with the guys in the "business" that taking a female is not in the best interest of the lion guides or of the lions. I just checked out this years harvest results in NM and there have been something like 78 females and 117 males taken. Im no statistics...
Here is my view, Since I was recently in the situation of choosing to take or not take a female, I look at it this way. I probably wont have the opportunity to hunt cougar every year as I do with elk or deer. I may never hunt them again after I finally get one. So passing up on the female is...
Hey weimhunter,
I saw you are new here, Welcome, I normally lurk in the elk and hound hunting section. I assume you hunt with weimeraner dogs. Tell us about them. I have 2 but have never hunted with them. I havent met anyone who hunts this breed. Tell us about your dogs.
Cuban.
bcat,
Yeah, it doesnt look too good for me this year. I just listened to a voice mail from eric and the news was bad. Sounds like there is only a couple of areas left open in the state. The zone we have been hunting is now closed. Well see what happens. Most likely it will be next year...
bcat,
Heres the deal, do me a favor. Since you are the champ of moving/deleting post, please take my name off of this entire site. I dont like the idea of being associated with the pig pen right off the bat. I dont exactly know what just happend here but I'm not interested in being a part...
I would have to give my vote for sheep hunting with a bow. I have never hunted sheep but I cant imagine a more challenging hunt. I have hunted ibex w a bow here and if i ever get one with a bow, I would consider it the holy grail of bow hunting, Ill have to keep trying.
Last thursday I saw my first cat treed. Ive been hunting in northern NM with a guide. We found the tracks early in the A.M. and were chasing shortly after. After two and a half hours of climbing steep terrain in knee high snow we caught up to the dogs at the tree. What a great sight to see the...
