And thery you go... begging for the permits to go with the tags in limited areas. WTF? No way that makes sense, but I doubt half the people in that room even understand or care what that would do. -

2020 Archery Bull
Ha, ha... Yeah that day it was kind of "easy". That said the dozen or so days in the field and the hundred + miles on the boots that led up to that opportunity were not so easy. Sometimes it all just comes to gether and you have to be in the woods with a bow in your hand when that happens. -

I have the 28 as well. I packed out half of my bear this spring ( had a buddy) and an entire antelope a few weeks ago. Montana Archery Buck
Always a blast chasing speed goats with the bow. A loooooong belly crawl to close the deal on this guy, and am happy to get the freezer filling started for the year. Now onto something "easy" to hunt like elk or deer. Can't wait to have a tree or two to hide behind.... and some glorious shade! -

I have done the trip you are planning..... without the drive. My brother lived up there and we took his jet boat to get the 5 miles off. Neck and backstrap connection cuts
Do yourself a favor and google the recipe for Cafe Rio pork barbacoa (sp?) .... use all that neck meat for that and make burritos. The neck was the first thing we ate out of both elk last year. Probably my favorite. Real off the whole critter- DANGLER

Archery elk harvests: morning, mid-day, or evening?
I think I am at around 20 archery elk and have been present for several more. Mid to late morning is for sure the most productive time, by far...particularly on bulls. That said have managed to notch a couple tags at first light and have taken some cows and calves at last light. -
