October brought ducks....and a new challenge! Water retrieves.
We started slow with jump shooting stock ponds....and holy crap...the kid gets it! He was supermanning into the deep blue before the first bird splashed down. And to top it off his first duck hunt started with a double
We started off labor day weekend with a few doves .. followed soon by huns. And much to my surprise he was a natural. He did a great job of delivering to hand and even chasing down cripples.
As fall approached I kinda wanna see what the little feller was made of.... so we started a super intense regiment of back yard fetch. Yup...that's the extent of his official hunt training. But what he lacked in practice he made up for in enthusiasm.

Ran into this guy on opening day....lip squeaked him in to 32 yards. State land....general unit. Good thing for him I had a belly full of spike and a .22lr in my hands.
"Kind of" in the market for a fairly inexpensive ATV or side-by-side. Not in a hurry, but could use one at my lake place and for ice fishing.
Trying to build a shop / cabin at the lake without borrowing much money, so funds are tight. What I do have is TONS of brand new in the box optics...

I do this at least once a month. Hands down the best way I have found. Whole family loves it. Don't skip the pepperoncinis...best part.
I often use onion soup mix instead of the aujus and it might be even better.
Another great weekend in the elk woods in the books! Friday night and Saturday morning were action packed, and if it weren't for some bull fever / poor shooting on my part I would be posting a pic of me withh the worlds biggest and oldest 5x5.... but apparently I suck.
Between Friday night...
