I find myself thinking too much about adding to the recipe; ends up being a classic Occam’s Razor that I ultimately decide to bring the gun (and gear) that I’m most proficient with, even if I’m over-gunned. But it sure helps me pass the time between last season and next!
I guess the only thing you can do is be totally honest with him. It's your mount that you have to be good with, as it hangs on your wall in perpetuity. If he's a reasonable man, then he should be ok with you bringing up your concerns. He also might be able to tell you why it's impossible to...
I would say it's slightly more nuanced than that, only because it was designed around shooting newer, heavier bullets that any standard .270, .270Wby, or .270WSM was unable to, due to twist constraints in factory rifles. As far as launching the same, standard .277 bullets faster, like your...
Respectfully, that is a straw man argument, and a terrible one, at that. Nowhere were polymer cases mentioned. What was actually being discussed, were the merits of an efficient .277 cartridge that was finally designed to shoot heavy, high-BC bullets with relatively low recoil.
I’m genuinely...
Not many people wanted a SSM, and to top it off, the SSMs were plagued with bad twists, bad bullet weights, and people wanted a 25 WSM, in particular, not a WSSM. What people HAVE been clamoring for over the past decade has been .257 and .277 projectiles with better BCs for long range...
I got the Savage Ultralite 6.5CM and it shoots well under 1/2MOA with factory 140 ELD-M, but at the end of the day, it's still got the lines of a Savage. They need to do something about their stocks. They are comfortable, but hideous. If money was no issue, I'd get the Proof or a Christensen.
Explain how a .277 160+gr bullet at higher-than-270 Win velocities is short bus material? Lighter recoil than a 7mm Rem Mag, greater sectional density, great BC....I think it’s part of the evolution for efficiency driving performance.

I guess that would be the nice thing about being a manufacturer and coming out with your own cartridge--you control your own destiny. I see Winchester chambering an...
I think it's a cool round, and it's awesome that the .277 is finally getting some more love. Efficient designs that drive sleek, heavy-for-caliber bullets are where everything is trending. I'm a sucker, I guess, because I'm already looking at my 1:10 270WSM with disgust ;) Thank goodness...
More power to them for innovating. I'm sure it will grow on me, in time. It's got European routes, so it would be cool if they added some Euro-style wooden stocks. Something elegant with a schnabel fore end.
