No, set it up, scout and tear it all down and come home. Go back to hunt and repeat. -

Haven't got there yet. Be there scouting in the late spring and then maybe a hunt in late August followed by 2 weeks late Nov -

How confident can I be leaving may camp (wall tent etc...) near a road that I'll return to it as I left it? Especially if there's no vehicle left behind. Just curious if people have had issues with thieves often. Either way, I'm gonna have a trail cam or two nearby. TYI -

Although I agree with your point on how some people view NRs, I guarantee ya more residents do more "funny" stuff than NR's. I know they do in in the multiple States I've lived and hunted- Kodiak06

I see your point. I bet that landowner has put up with too many A-holes hunting that line and trying to take advantage of a known risk on their part. We have people harass the animals so much, the fields get torn up by large herds, the fences get torn up, and costs man hours and money to fix...- Kodiak06

The boundary absolutely matters. You said it yourself; an elk can travel a long way once shot. It's silly to shoot an animal that close to the property line without prior arrangements/permission to retrieve an animal. I get that permission every year or avoid the edges.
