I've hunted the same places in Idaho since 1990. I know where the birds are/will be year after year. They live there and nobody mucks with them. A great secret for success is simply being familiar with a property.

Been twice (2013 & 2016) with Maers and Goldman at La Volanta Lodge. We used their guns which were Beretta and Benelli semi auto 20's. Abuse their guns, not yours, and it is abuse.

I have one. Cost me $179 plus $20 rebate from Winchester, however nearly simultaneously they filed chapter 11 and I don't think I ever recieved the rebate. Oh well. It's a shooter.
Tho I have not hunted the occelated bird, I know many that have and they say it plenty safe. You have options within driving distance for several other sub species. WA for Rios and Easterns, MN/WI for Easterns, SW Idaho (draw hunt) for Rios.
