I love a great steak simply grilled over lump charcoal, but I also like mixing it up a little. One of my favorite ways to grill meat when it warms up is something similar to the recipe here https://www.mylilikoikitchen.com/tag/maui-meat-sticks/ Slicing the meat thin and then putting it on a...
Just curious as I really have no idea - which is easier to lay a nice bead with for basic welding, stick or MIG? In my mind MIG would be a little easier, but maybe that’s just because stick is still alluding me some and I haven’t done any MIG yet.
@VikingsGuy feel like sharing some of your favorite picks for ETFs? I’m always curious what others are picking and how that aligns with where I am parking my money.
Has anyone purchased bullets or ammo from Goldcountryammo.com? I have searched around and there are lots of similar posts to this and the “Owner” even reply’s to a lot of the different forum posts, but I still can’t find anything saying someone actually received product from them. I am asking as...
I got another 10 minutes of free time between the kids weekend activities so I laid down a bead of 7018 on one side and 6013 on the other, just to keep working towards something decent (my second weekend of doing any welding). My question for you guys is what are you using to practice on that is...
Didn’t get a photo until the end, but I made white bean chili out of the front shoulder of a wild hog and some hatch chiles that I fire roasted. Turned out pretty tasty for winging the whole thing.
That sounds correct - I believe you can go slightly lower but you have to hold it at that temp for a lot longer. Once you hit 160 you should be good to slice and enjoy!
Luckily I’m just doing a drop test where the weight free falls to the ground, so the tower only has to lift the 250 lbs. It is crazy how forces are increased when falling and how much force fall arrest system must withstand, to not fail.
I know it’s really thought, but for a few hours of work I’m just happy I didn’t light anything on fire. I’ll keep practicing and refining things moving forward (I might grind most of the welds out and lay them down again at some point). I am building a 20’ tall tripod tower to drop a 250’ weight...
This thread pushed me to finally give welding a try. I borrowed a buzz box from a family member and used an angle grinder for all my cuts and grinding. It was a rough start and the welds look terrible, but they only need to hold about 300 lbs for the project so I think it should ok (hopefully)...
Had a random thought sitting here - what if you spend the time to produce something awesome, like that 45-70 you did, then sell raffle tickets to the guys on here for $50 each for a chance to win it? You could set a max number of tickets that would sell and you could set the total number you...
Thanks for the reply! I am dipping my toe into this world and trying to learn all I can, prior to potentially blowing a bunch of money on the wrong stuff. I’m going to keep researching and looking around with the hopes of putting a few of these old beauties in the gun safe sometime this year.
@BrentD thanks for all your insight and knowledge! A question that I think I know the answer to, but I want to double check is - if I get an older model SxS from Europe, can I safely shoot normal steel shot loads in them without damage?
