This is kinda what I was thinking.
Thanks for the input everyone. Just trying to figure out if finding a cow around here this time of year is a waste of time and maybe my time would be better spent on a little longer drive to a different area.
Thanks!
Definitely not looking for anyone’s secret spot or anything. I just moved to Lewistown from the west side of the state this spring. From the searching I’ve done I know most of the elk around the snowies are on private by now, however most of the posts I’ve found have all been from people with...
This whitetail has been hanging around my backyard all fall and I’m about 99% sure it’s an antlered doe. Has little spikes even smaller than you’d expect on a yearling buck, maybe 2” long. Always has a fawn with her.
I’ll be interested to see if she’s still around next year if those antlers...
I saw there was a similar post not too long ago and i read the suggestion there about the "catch and release" clothing, i will definitely check that out as well but if anyone has any hunting clothes your kids have grown out of, that might fit my 8 year-old daughter, she and I would greatly...
If on the southern half of the lake you’ll need a tribal license to fish. Might sound crazy but a pork sausage link on a treble hook above a slip sinker will catch lake trout just about anywhere early morning or late evening. Good luck!
Leupold scope that I’ve had for many years developed an issue this fall and I had to send it in for warranty repair/replacement.
My tracking number shows it was delivered to them on December 14th, but I never heard anything from Leupold to confirm they received it. I emailed them with the...
After reading a couple threads recently about guessing the age of deer, got me thinking, anyone care to venture a guess on the age of this bull?
Thanks
When hunting on state trust lands in MT, does anyone know the specifics of the rule regarding how far you must be from houses. In the regulations I found this:
“• Firearms may not be discharged within one-quarter mile of inhabited dwellings or outbuildings on state trust lands
without...
I’ve had my class A for about 5 years now. My previous job required it, my current job does not but I’ve kept it so far just in case. I thought the test was fairly easy as long as you have a bit of experience and some common sense. Just remember if you want the air brake endorsement you must...
Like “rustednuts” said, possibly you just skimmed the bottom of the belly, would expect to see a lot of hair if that was the case. Doesn’t seem like very much blood on the arrow for a complete pass through?
Ever since moving to Montana from Michigan 5 years ago I have been trying very hard to get my first elk. Harvested plenty of deer and had some close encounters with elk, but no success (until now). During rifle season last year I found a wallow here in northwest Montana that I went back to...
Thanks for the advice, I really like the toggle bolt idea. Only euro mount I’ve done before was a deer and I just ran a drywall screw through the back of the plaque and into the skull, but wanted something better for this elk.
Just shot my first elk a couple weeks ago and took the head to a beetle place for a European mount, should be done in a few months. In the mean-time I’m wanting to start making the wooden plaque to mount it on. How does everyone attach their euro mounts to the plaque?
Thanks
I just put a pair of Monroe “load-adjusting” shocks on the back of my truck to help with hauling heavy loads of firewood. They were pretty affordable and working great so far (only had them on about 2 months now).
Not the biggest buck in the world, but the first with a bullet I loaded myself. Hunting with my uncle who had taught me how to reload. 30/06, 150 gr Nosler Partition, only bullet used by everyone in my family.
