Retired guy here that has a couple homes. I'd figure out a way to pay cash for it, or wouldn't have two homes.
The last thing you need in retirement is more debt.
Yep .... and what about that little stretch of bad luck when you have to replace the roof, and in the middle of that your car pukes. If you don't have some wiggle room or significant savings you're using the credit card and getting yourself in further trouble.
Anywhere near half of your monthly take home income is a huge mortgage. Most recommend to keep it near 1/4 of your monthly take home.
I wouldn't go into debt much deeper just to get another five acres.
I've owned a lot of this stuff over the years and was always partial to Hummingbird as it seems the most simple and user friendly. On advice of a guy I considered pretty knowledgeable, I outfitted my present boat with the latest greatest Lowrance stuff and now wish I would have stayed with...
If you're going to tie up ground, buy a farm, cash rent it for crops and get an nice annual payment.
People give walnuts away around here to anybody that is willing to pick them up. Will probably take at least 50-75 years for trees to get to marketable timber size.
I'm not a fan of walnuts...
Would not be interested in an electric truck.
If they ever come out with some sort of a little Jeep Wrangler or something electric that looks decent, I might get one for short trips around town, etc.
All the current electric car options are butt ugly Mini Cooper knock offs in my opinion.
How come when you pull in somewhere and park the car to go to the store, to a diner, etc. it takes them minutes just to open the door and get out of the car?
The worse experiences I've had on these deals is when one (or more) of the group is really stretching to do the trip financially, struggles to get the time away from work or family, or has a spouse that is opposed to it. If they don't have a bang up trip and come home with game it can lead to...
I've got a 220 I use for hunting in IL. It's probably the most accurate off the shelf shotgun available. Best ammo I've found for mine are the 3" Remington Accutips, however they are nowhere to be found now and I'm down to about 13 rounds, so next season may be the last time I use them, then...
Good choice.
I've had a 5085 for several years now and have been very pleased.
Implements used include; 8' disc, 7' rotary tiller, two row planter, 12' bat wing mower, 7' brush hog mower, loader & forks
I set up accounts for each of the grandkids and started w/ $10k each. Did not select 529's for reasons mentioned in your post. Basically just put them in good mutual funds with their mom (our daughter) over these accounts until they reach age 18. We've added cash to these accounts a couple...
Side tracking to fishing, my dad was too cheap to ever get us a decent outboard for the fishing boat. You might get that old POS Johnson Sea Horse started and get out there, but it was a cinch you were probably going to row back in.
