    Montana General season

Yep it's going to be an absolute zoo. I'd probably just stay home and not take a hunting trip. The best stories always start with "So I grabbed a beer and headed for the couch "

    Hunting philosophy

Why I love it. Quality time spent with my Dad. It's an adventure. It's a challenge both physically and mentally at times. Great meat in the freezer. I love watching a dog point a bird or make a good retrieval. Getting to watch other game/ non-game animals. Appreciation for life that it's given me.

    MT Breaks roads

Thanks to everyone that has responded! I definitely understand the gumbo situation. Any crappy two track trails and we'll be using the four wheeler, not the truck. Not saying that won't get stuck, but at least it's not a 3/4 ton truck. We'll be in 410. I'm trying to get a idea of which roads...

I'm in no need of elk info but if you're familiar with roads in the breaks, I would appreciate a PM. Thanks!

    Hornady SST vs ELD-X

My dad has had pretty good luck with 180 sst out of his .300 win. About 7 elk and 2 moose have been shot with them. Some bullets have held together really well and others seemed to blow to pieces but all have killed well

    Must sees in Redlodge?

The girlfriend and I will be taking a long weekend getaway in mid October and are heading to Redlodge..I've yet to make it down into that part of the state so figured nows the time. If I had it my way we'd be putting miles on the boots "hiking" aka scouting every day but I know the lady will...

    Backcountry hunting and extra ammo?

Really wouldn't worry about weight of something that is so Essential..along with having the rifle fully loaded (4),I usually have another 6-8 in my pack and 2-3 in my bino harness.

    Your Favorite Backyard Hunts

I really enjoy chasing spring snows. The snow is gone, long sunny days, time afield with good dogs, beers on the tailgate with good friends while some fresh meat is on the grill..Hard not to love it. End up putting a ton of miles on the truck scouting but its always worth it! Along with...

    feral cat

Sounded to me like the OP had permission to be there and the land owner wanted the cats thinned out...he said nothing about them being the neighbors cats...why do the cats suddenly belong to the neighbors ?

    feral cat

It's alright, I think he played it safe and didn't actually kill them in the house!
