August and early September is the best bite for river smallies and muskies in Wisconsin. Bugs can be a little tiresome in August but usually aren't bad during the day. Would like to rifle hunt mulies, and October would be the best month. Are tags difficult to get for non-residents?
In Wisconsin, we can bag at least 4 deer. You get 2 tags with a bow license and 2 tags with a gun license. With the bow license, one tag is for antlerless deer (can be used in bow season, in either of the 2 Zone T seasons or the regular gun season) in any Zone T Game Management Unit, the other...
Jake and I would be glad to take two people on a week-long+ smallmouth bass/musky river camping trip on the St. Croix and/or Flambeau Rivers in Wisconsin for being able to tag along with you mule deer hunting in Idaho or Montana. I'd take one in one canoe and Jake the other in another canoe...

To continue my inquiry. I have a Weatherby Mark V Lightweight Synthetic with a 24" barrel. I loaded H4831 in fireformed and neck-sized R-P brass, WW primers and the 139gr Hornady BTSP. I have reached 62gr (.5gr increments from 57gr) for 3040fps average, 13fps spread, .8" 100 yards 5 shot...
What are your 139/140gr bullet, H4831 loads for the .280 Remington Ackley Improved? I've been told the maximum is around 62.5 grains. Does that sound about right? I have arrived at a starting load of 57 grains. How about that? Or could I start at 59 grains with H4831, which is a max load for a...
