Clam Chowder at the Sea Hag in Depot Bay ... is very good.
But I think the best Chowder is at the Nye Beach Café down at Nye Beach in Newport.
Good fresh Oysters from up in Yaquina Bay.

Well ... since the draw went into affect and with not that many tags ... with over 2000 sq miles to hunt ... and good hunting from mid-April till mid-June ... there really isn't that much hunting pressure. Non-residents don't need to draw as well as guided hunters. Few residents hunt Black Bear...
There are plenty of lodgings to choose from. You don't have to stay in the bigger towns of Craig, Klawock or Thorne Bay. You can find rentals in the more remote towns on the north end also.
Some offer vehicles & boats .. others just cabins or rooms. Auto & boat rentals are available...
Actually a vessel charter is usually more than an air charter. Also the vessel must be licensed as a 'Transporter' by guide law, to take hunters in / out of the field and transport their game. Air charters are exempt from that law.
Elkwisper has some good info ... but there aren't the rentals...
All planes depart the waterfront in Ketchikan ... flying RT into various bays on the Island can be expensive. Also when you fly into a spot you are kinda stuck in that spot. You are not going on any high seas adventures with an inflatable and small outboard. Even getting around in a larger bay...
shrinkage
Your Horns will continue to shrink some. B&C has a shrinkage variance formula. If it shrinks more that is allowed you will get the new score from the panel. If it is less you will get the score you just had done.
What part of this scoring period are we in now. How long till the next...
IIRR ... some university has been doing tissue samples for some years to try to figure out the growing sterile action going. They have been taking tissue samples from here also. The 2 theories were that the isolated gene pool was starting to take its toll. I guess they started the heard with...
"thousands" of deer on the beach is not a good thing. Major over-browse will have bad affects for years and many of those deer are stressed to the max.
Biologist call them 'walking dead'.
And a diet of Kelp for to long will kill deer.
I would say that there will probably be a reduction in the bag limit on Kodiak. Probably back to one Buck like they have done in past winter die-off situations.
If your Transporter or Guide has not been in contact with you about this issue I would be wondering about a few things.
What does...
Bears or Wolverine can do funny things.
While guiding on the North Slope years ago, we had a pile of meat sacks and a sack containing the Moose cape stacked against the tent. Hopefully to protect them a little. During the night ... quiet enough to not wake us ... a Bear picked through the meat...
The best areas are not necessarily in the drawing. But there are some very good trophy managed areas like the Tok and Delta (for sheep). Like I was saying many of the draw areas are on the Anchorage road system or close.
All the Muskox and Bison hunts are draw hunts. There could be over the...
Spitz ....
Tags are usually not included in an Alaska Guided hunt.
There is no point or priority system to the draw. A non-res has the same odds as a resident.
If you are a non-res and put in for a Sheep, Brown Bear or Goat hunt you must have a guide or relative to hunt with. If you draw the...
A non-resident must purchase a Wolf Tag in Alaska to take one (or more) under a hunting license. You can purchase a non-resident trapping license and take them without a tag. Gun is a legal trapping method.
hunting limits can be 5. There are no limits with a trapping license.
A N-R Wolf tag is...
