Black Bear Tags
Unit #1 which is the mainland in SE Ak is mostly over the counter tags. Unit's #2 & #3 are draw or guided. The mainland basically has no roads, so access is by vessel or float plane. It takes some logistical planning but a very good Bear hunt can be put together. I would say the largest Bears...- muskeg

Bear Hide Prep
When you skin it just make sure the pevis sheath & nut sack or vaginal orafice stays on the hide. Run your skinning cut right alongside.- muskeg

We were able to struggle the skiff to the water, and get a hunt on. That is a 16ft / 30hp. You won't move an 18ft boat, you will be stuck like Velcro. Making the ferry to Hollis at Ketchikan?
I would not plan on making that ferry connection. Wheels down at 2:45 will not be enough time. They start boarding the ferry at 2:30 and are closing the gates usually by 3:15 or before. 3:30 departure is not 3:30 last call boarding time. How did you take up hunting?

Is it luck? W. Oregon rifle draws/hair tags
The winter Cow hunt looks like a hard draw for all 3 Alsea hunts. Just a few tags. I've been putting in hoping to get lucky. Same as the Unit 618 Doe tag. I don't see how someone could draw either of those tags consistently.- muskeg
