Like several in this thread I prefer my Sig. I started with a nikon 550 then moved to a vortex 1500, then a Sig KILO2200. The sig was a significant upgrade over the vortex.
I would highly recommend ring. I have the doorbell cam as well as a few other cameras and motion sensors. I have had a few false alarms and the ring monitoring center has contacted me withing a few minutes each time to see if the police need to be called. Previously I had a system from vivint...
I have a tikka T3 superlight in 308 and have had great luck with several factory loads from federal with the best accuracy from the federal premium loaded with 165 accubonds. Off a lead sled the gun shoots about 1/2 MOA with that load. I also have used this load on multiple deer and elk with...
I had a Impertech jacket and it was perfect, everyone else had some form of high end camo rain jacket and mine performed the best by far and was only $75. I am really hoping I draw again for a 2023 tag and plan on changing units up and trying to hunt the area every year if possible.
The...
I was on Kuiu. Since it was raining everyday we found that anytime there was a break in the weather the bears would be really active. Outside of that we always hunted the afternoon low tide. For fishing we generally just fished to kill time until the weather cleared or low tide hit.
Following a...
I should have clarified, all the bear pics are of my bear which was the largest and the best fur quality. Mine measured just under 19”.
I can’t wait to go back, the weather was not ideal for bear but when the fish didn’t seem to mind. Besides the halibut we caught a few types of rockfish and...
I returned from a self guided Southeast Alaska bear hunt. I went with a group of 6 and it was all of ours first trip to Southeast Alaska.
The weather was perfect on the day we arrived and proceeding to rain everyday after that. The boat I was in ended up going 3 for 3 of bears but no real...
Thanks for the advise, I know my buddy has a floor liner but nothing for the walls. I think we are now planning on taking his tipi and a few small backpacking tents with rain flys where we can use the tipi to dry out during the day.
No issues on this day, myself and another hunter each took one and where we were at would have been a really long hike or ski to get to. We were on snowmobiles, we could see a vehicle watching us from a distance but they never approached.
I did have an issue earlier in the season where it...
Got it done in last weekend. Thank you to all the members that helped with with my scouting. I also was lucky enough to meet several other tag holders who were a tremendous help, I even had 4 people who I had just met that morning help with the packout. So far I know of at least 6 state hunters...
The main reason for the stove would be just to dry out gear, we would be hunting the tidal flats and likely getting a little bit wet each day so we are just wanting somewhere to dry off gear.
I am heading to Kuiu Island in the spring of 2021 for a black bear hunt. We are hoping to have some form of hot tent setup. I have a lightweight vented propane stove that I planned on bringing for a heat source since I would assume everything else would be too wet to burn.
My buddy has a seek...
Reviving and old thread here. To the original poster, where you able to find any drag retrieval companies?
I had that tag this year and could have a similar issue of not always having reliable help on short notice in particular if I do a short hunt during the week. I have found a few potential...
