I have Falken Wildpeak AT3W on my f150 and they have been the best tire I have ever had for normal driving with alot of driving in snow and in rough trails. I constantly ran into issues of flats with previous tires and this set in 35k miles have had no issues and get great traction.
Same as others, I have used pro staffs on slug guns and muzzleloaders with no issues. I had a similar issue on a savage 7mm-08 with a factory mounted prostaff, I changed the rings and bases and it shot great.
My dad drew 511 of the elk combo list, this is his first year trying for a tag this way and I am still not too familiar with it. Does anyone know how realistic it is for him to get a tag before rifle opener?
The areas you mentioned are relatively close to Billings and Bozeman which generally means they will be crowded if they hold elk. If you can hunt the middle of the week and stay away from major trailheads it shouldn't be too bad.
If supply ever catches up with demand, I'm strongly considering a maverick. They are a pretty awful looking vehicle, but 29 mpg and they can tow 4000 pounds and have a ground clearance within an inch of most 1/2 ton trucks.
