Thanks for the encouragement Cush! I will likely mount a Leuopold 3Xi 3.5x10x 40 on what I buy. Most tables show a 140 grain bullet for the 7mm. Is that the round of choice??
Yes, I shoot the old Remington 760 in 30.06 all my life. Just wondering how different the Kimber Hunter might be with it. Guess I'm thinking more on the bench shooting and sighting in etc. Never feel the recoil when shooting at a critter! May use the new one eventually for elk if I ever...
Looking at getting a Kimber Hunter. Favoring 30.06 but wondering if the .308 or 7 mm a better choice. Somebody told me 30.06 might be a little much for the light rifle. What are your experiences or opinions. Intended for mule deer. Thanks for any input.
I have a fourth season deer tag in Colorado. A first for me. I am strongly considering buying a Kimber Hunter in 30.06 using 165 gr. I have an old reliable Remington 760 in .06, pump. Just wondering your thoughts on the lighter Hunter in .06 vs the .308 or 7mm-08.
After 11 years I finally drew a 4th season deer tag in Colorado unit 15. As I'm considered an oldtimer this will be a once in a lifetime tag. I'm a veteran Colorado elk bowhunter with good success. I solo hunt public land and have enjoyed spending the whole month of September in the mountains...
Been there. Crummy feeling. I looked for 3 days out of stubbornness or whatever it is. Used my GPS to record grid lines and everything else. Text the local game warden friend and told her I was disgusted and was just going to punch my tag. She said the coyotes have to eat too, keep hunting...
I did get lucky and got a 4x4 Sunday morning! That's a bull 4 years in a row - so lucky is right! Better yet, my grandson, Jake, text me to see how it was going. Told him to come up with a pack as I was boning out an elk. He showed up with another buddy - both Kremmling football players. Did...
Very well stated Randy. These battles never end but the players keep changing and seems to make it all start over again. As is the case with northern Minnesota issues you refer to. I appreciate that you well remember "where you came from" and have carried on those values. They serve you well...
I'm looking to get a new bino harness. I've been using the old original style and this time of the year in Northern Minnesota you get the itch to buy something! What do folks suggest?
I often haul meat inside my Alaskan pack. It's in game bags and put those in plastic bags when I remember just for the pack out and then inside the pack. Just soak the pack in cold water when you get home, maybe with a small amount of bleach, and thy clean up fine.
I saw it a couple nights ago. Need to have an understanding of the times and interactions on fur traders, Indians, etc to appreciate the movie. Good action. May make you hope you aren't attacked by a bear, if you don't already hope that!!
