Not affecting me this year as I am only building points until my sons are old enough to hunt. Same with my dad and my wife. Once they get old enough, I am thinking the most likely situation is my dad will apply with one son, I will apply with one later, and my wife will apply with the third...
Any idea how this applies to statewide raffles? What value is placed on the tag? Is it compared with what a tag of that magnitude is auctioned off at (which seems like it could be quite variable)? Not that I'll ever win, but it would suck to win then find out that you have to pay many...
No. Nobody knows what tomorrow brings. The 45 year old could be closer to death than the 70 year old. Giving even more advantage to older folks who were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to get in the game earlier is making a bad system worse.

I'm looking at my future of hunting, and it will likely be mostly trying to help my sons get on animals for many years. As such, I've been looking at getting back into photography and possibly filming some of their hunts for myself and them. I've gotten quite into watching some different folks...

Hunt at home for a week of the Minnesota 3A gun deer season. Hoping to take my oldest son along with me for a couple days of this for the first time.
Hunt opening weekend of the Minnesota archery deer season. Hoping to take my middle son...

No sightings this weekend. I'm not surprised, though, as it seems like I'm really relying on somebody chasing something past us in our yard. Didn't hear very much shooting, but I don't really have a baseline to know what "normal" is here.
When I was out Saturday, I didn't see too many hunters...
Shot our biggest bodied whitetail that we've actually weighed this year. This link I've posted previously was spot-on with our field dressed vs. meat findings. The chart seems pretty accurate in the comparisons I've done on the upper end of the scale...
