    To capitalize on your points I’d recommend Unit 18 2nd season. As you’ve already discovered, dates are amazing this year, and point creep is going to suck. Hunt on or near roads. Shouldn’t have too much competition there.

    Colorado is your best bet. I got a shiras a couple years ago. No elk yet to compare it to. I think it’s good, but honestly I think midwest (corn/ soy bean/etc. fed) whitetails taste better. That said, I’m hoping to take my dad for a cow moose in a couple years. They’re fun to hunt!
