Favorite Backpacking Meals
O.K..... this isn't really a meal, but I pack 1-2 candy bars today. Specifically Almond Snickers and almond joy. I know its not the pure nutrition that people talk about, but its a great pick me up in the middle of the day. The mountain house blueberry granola is probably my favorite breakfast.- Outdoor Junkie

On X Map Dates?
Honestly, the imagery I see on onxmaps looks identical to google earth recently. By identical, I mean I found elk in two different spots and they were on both Google Earth and onxmaps. I would check to see if Google Earth looks the same and then look at the imagery date on there.- Outdoor Junkie

Burn areas
It honestly doesn't matter. The reason burn is so good is that the canopy is opened up and a lot more feed can grow for the elk. Beetle kills accomplish the same thing.- Outdoor Junkie

Eating Elk, Backstraps or Round Steaks ?
if the meat hasn't had a chance to age prior to cutting it off of the animal, I recommend letting it age after it thaws. Depends what type of hunt you want. If you want a backpack hunt, It would be Region G hands down in my opinion. If you want a different type of hunt (car or hotel camp), then there are probably better areas.- Outdoor Junkie
