I would not recommend shooting 40 S&W in a 10mm chamber, and neither does Glock, yes you may get away with it, but as Glock customer service has told me, it is dangerous and has caused serious injury to more than a handful of people who have tried it.
Between the 2 caliber choices, go with the 308. As for the rifle see which one you like the best. I like the Browning X-Bolt myself. Although I don't own any of the others you mention, I hear they are all great rifles though. A nice Leupold or Vortex on top would be my choice as well, you don't...
Personally I would go with the tried and true, if you prefer long action cartridges either the 270 Win or the 30/06, hands down can't be beat, (there are literally 100's of choices in factory loads offered for each), plus thousands of hunters across the U.S. & Canada rely on both to put meat in...
I hunt similar woods in the north eastern corner of Pennsylvania, I use my Marlin 336C in .35 Remington. It handles and balances well, and despite it's weight,(almost 8lbs. with scope), whether in my hands or on my shoulder it doesn't bother me carrying it all day, (plus to me anyways, it...
Sounds to me like you have 2 different issues here, if your packing for self defense against other bipeds, a compact 9mm or 40S&W auto and or a 3" to 4" barreled 357 magnum would serve you well. If your goal is for hunting purposes, I would check what the minimum legal barrel length is for...
While I'm not well versed in Colorado's requirements for hunter safety orange, to err on the side of caution I would at the least have on a blaze orange hat and keep a vest tucked in my pack. From what I've seen, most western states will allow you to get away with just a blaze orange hat, but...
I would do as some have suggested, talk to a sports doctor, who will work with you to determine the best route to take. As a side note, I had a co-worker, (recently forced to retire, and go on permanent disability), who has been battling back issues for a few years now. He has had multiple back...
Last year, second day of Pennsylvania's rifle season, my Marlin 336 in .35 Rem froze up solid. It was completely my fault too. Last year was the first time Pennsylvania opened rifle season on a Saturday and that day was perfect hunting weather, there was a slight drizzle late in the afternoon...
Just find yourself a MIL-SPEC built AR, that is if the S&W you own isn't one already, most of the ones built today are. If the one you have now is, you can personalize/customize it any way you want. I own one, and it's Mil-Spec built, so I can buy any brand part, whether it's another upper...
I started out using IMR4350, then H4350, now I use Superformance powder pushing a .243 Barnes 80gr TTSX. Performance from all 3 powders mentioned are fantastic, but get a bit more out of my loads with the Superformance.
I also use IMR4350 or H4350, I switched from the Hornady 225gr SST's, because they blow apart, even out to 300yds, don't get me wrong, they work, nothing walks away after being hit by one of those SST's, just a lot of meat damage in my opinion. Now I'm using Nosler's 200gr Accubond, accuracy is...
