I am working with a five month old walker right now. Most people I know train their hounds running them with older hounds, I like to hunt a young dog alone till we get a couple of coon, they seem to get with the program faster when introduced to hunting in a pack. Just wondering if any of you...
After reading all these posts, I want it ALL!! Any of these hunts would be blast
I have heart set on someday getting an elk, so for now that would be my dream hunt.
Great story Sparkman, I have called a few coon in, they almost always suprise you!
I cant believe I'm the only one who has been attacked by an OWL! com'on guys... Its happened to me at least three or four times..
ok, the owls never actualy scratched me or anything, but I have felt their wings...
Chambo, Funny you should ask, In an earlier post engmann99 said "a good coonhound is a death magnet" That is about the best way I have ever herd it put!! Coonhounds, for some reason hardly ever get old enough to retire! I t would be interesting to know what the average age of a hunting hound is?
I dont have a tumbler and have never used one. Gotta tell ya I'm getting pretty sick of dirty brass, so I'm thinking about gettin one. Do they also clean the inside of the brass to some extent? Is there any benifit to tumbling other than appearance? Do you tumble before or after sizing?
You better call Rippleys and see if anyone has ever caught a coyote with a moose hon commi'n out of his side!!
just kiddin! Man I dont envy the poor sap that has to do the skinni'n!

i'm not interested in beating a dead horse but I do want to clarify a few things,
First "looks like bcat gets his way" thats one he11 of a way to apologize, its nothing more than an attempt to "muddy the water".
califoniacoyotes, I am sorry if my point was unclear, no I do not believe...
I'm not sure what all was going on here, but I have scensed lots of tension between bcat and BCA for along time.. Its hard to draw jdgements when some of the stuff is going on privatley, The way I see it BCA was trying to drum up business, nothing wrong with that as long as you are honest, sadly...
Justin, I have a 4 month old walker female right now,but theres no way I could sell her{shes upstairs sleeping with my son as I type} I would have 3 prety angry kids on my hands!! Maybe you could try coonhound ceteral, they almost always have started dogs for sale and you might be able to find...
I have only been handloading for a few years, so be gentle with me... When my brother was home visiting for x-mas he reloaded a bunch of ammo for his 308, the problem is, he mistakenly used magnum primers, I shot a few rounds, no signs of excess preasure, But he is all bent up about it! So I...

I know this is the Cats/bears forum but since there are so many new guys Im wondering how many coon hunters are here? Oh yea, I meant to ask some of you guys out west if ya even have coon out there?
You have just found the best board around!! we are all looking forwrd to some stories, and maybe some pics,[I for one, never tire of hound pics} The more the merrier!!
I have had{at one time or another} just about every breed of hound, always seem to go back to walkers! Walkers are real popular around here for coon, There are so many limestone bluffs, you need a fast dog to tree them before they can get to em'.
