I was wondering this exact same thing. I wonder what the effect of point creep will have under the new system where you only have to pay for an application fee of $3 per species. I think having to pay the full amount and wait on a reimbursement would probably dissuade a lot of people from...
I'm a nonresident looking to build more preference points in CO this year and just applied for Deer, Elk, and Pronghorn preference points. I know previously I paid the $40 fee (after my tag fee was returned) for each species and was planning on paying it again this year. However, I drew a tag...
Welcome! I'm originally from Spring City, TN.
If you're already using GoHunt than I'd say you probably have it narrowed down pretty well on units. If you're trying to decide between certain units than you may want to be more specific on your question as there are a lot of variables on what...
Yep, the warranty definitely was a big factor for me. The pending sale of cabelas at the time and not knowing what that would do to their warranty on name brand products had me nervous about the Krotos warranty. When Gander Mountain went under so did all their warranties so again that had me...
I tried one in the store at Cabelas. I found it to be pretty good quality and actually better in my opinion than the Viper series. The Razor series still looked crisper to me and I ended up going with the old model Razor as I was able to get it for about $900 but still was very impressed by...
I've got a BL 2200 and love it. Packed out an elk front and hind quarter at the same time as well as multiple deer and it felt good and performed great. I've never used a MR so can't speak to comparison but the 2200 felt a whole lot better than my army rucksacks ever did.
Part 141. I'm enjoying it and so really dove into it. My goal would be to fly into a local airport, rent a truck, and go hunt. One day I plan to go for my sea rating and may look at an amphibious aircraft which would allow me to land, pack in the woods, camp, and hunt.
I know this is an odd place to talk about pilot licenses but curious if anyone out there has theirs and what your experience has been flying to and from hunts. In my downtime between hunting seasons I decided to pursue getting my Private Pilots License. Its something I've always wanted to try...
One more comment is if you are going to spend that much money, I would also recommend going thermal. Thermal is in another league as far as what you can make out at night. I watched a field mouse in a corn pile at about 50yrds with a thermal scope that I would have never noticed nor probably...
Thats a very true statement. I'm no expert on the technology but all it does is amplify ambient light so that you can see. If there is no light because of no moon, dark room, etc then there is nothing to amplify. Its amazing how little light you need to make it work though. I have an...
I'm not sure how to answer range other than to say I've shot mine easily out to 300yrds. Again it depends on how much zoom you want to add. At full zoom, I'd imagine you could easily see out to 1000yrds. You could identify your target although it would be pretty grainy at that zoom level...
I own an ATN X-Sight II 3-14. I really like the scope and bought it mainly for hog hunting. Its very complicated but once you figure it all out it has some really nice features. There are a few things that you have to get used to and some considerations when using it. The scope is...
Great looking gun! I've been torn between this model and the new X-Bolt Pro. Just waiting on someone to get one of the pros in stock so I can see it in person.
Thanks and good luck to you on your upcoming trip! I have to sit out of the western hunts this year but am building points to go back next year and hopefully most after that.
I hunted just north of there in Craig, CO this year. I heard the same things about OTC tags. Everyone said dont waste your time, its not worth it, no elk will be in the area that time of year. We spent one day scouting and found Elk in two different areas. Rushed to the store after we...
Same concept as the Burris Eliminator scopes just for a bow. Im an IT guy by trade and I still have trouble relying on technology in this capacity. I do like the concept of a rangefinder built into a bow for quick ranging, minimal movement, and display of yardage but not a fan of the pin...
I'm with everyone else and really enjoy camping when I've got a group willing to help. With that said, I think it depends on how confident you are in the area you are hunting and the likelihood of moving around also. We went to CO this year and had narrowed down our results to three state...
I'm a huge fan of the Walker Razor XV with Blue Tooth. I picked them up for $78 on Amazon. I've had them for about 6 months and they are really comfortable and nice to use. The are noise enhancing for lower decibel sounds but they cut sound for all sounds above a certain decibel point if you are...
