Living on the Mississippi I have access to pretty much anything you want except trout and salmon. I am partial to small mouth how ever they're biting whereever I can find them. Second place would be large mouth on a top water frog. 3rd is walleyes on summer wing dams. A summer day tied up in...
I have a 19 and 17 year old. I do plenty of generation bashing..... Just like my dad to me and my bro. ;) I don't discount you're assessment of the situation.
Unfortunately, I'm a firm believer the decline of hunters is much deeper than generational differences. I am becoming convinced...
If my post introduced generation bashing it was not my intent. I was talking about how hard it is for a new hunter, and sadly many former, of any age to feel that hunting is a worthwhile use of their time. Often because they don't have the connections or increasingly more often MONEY to access...
Just following out of curiosity. As an NR I don't have a dog in this fight. If the WY can pull the purchase off good for them. I hope it works out for all concerned and I only stand to potentially benefit.
While better discussed in a different thread some VikingsGuy's comments echo many of...
While the Cali law is ridiculous and in fact another hurdle to jump I still have a hard time believing regulations are the reason for the decline in hunters. The way people live is changing. Their connection to the land is gone. All outdoor pursuits are declining. Access is a major hurdle...
Increasing hunter efficacy leads to declining opportunity. Coupling that to a longer season is not a recipe for success.
I suggest you look at the other opportunities available besides rifle.
May I be banned if I reply further to this thread.
Oh brother. I proved nothing for you. Safety is not a cultural issue. Party hunting and deer drives are and it's obvious you've never been on one the way they're done around here. If you went and changed our "culture" by outlawing party hunting and deer drives, which is how a lot of people...
I believe we've had this conversation before. I can't say anything except you are flat out wrong, especially when it comes to Iowa. I see some have already addressed many of the reasons why.
I see you dismissed the safety part which is the real reason rifles have never been allowed. Many...
To be clear it doesn't bother me in the least, though he's not my candidate. It usually got some pretty good reactions from those that it bothers in other forums. See post #3.
There's multiple bills bouncing around related to the NR. Several would give tags to NR landowners. A couple about giving preference to NR's hunting with outfitters. Best as I can tell right now all proposals pull tags from the NR pool. That will really screw the DIY guy. Waits could go to...
Never shot an Elk but if you can use a sabot I'd look at the heavier Barnes bullets first for a quality bullet you can find relatively easy and not overly outrageous on price. No to the SST.
My wife just read it this week. She asked me to take the test at the end. Before we got half way through she could see how pissed i was getting and noted she would just return it to her friend without asking me to read it. Told her if she was the type of women that needed gifts to show she...
I would seriously say Iowa would be in the running but that looks like it could be changing this year. If some of these crap bills go through then we'll go to just fully hating the average joe DIY hunter.
Good luck! Curious what's bringing you here if you don't mind.
I'm a life long resident and don't plan on ever leaving. Almost stayed in CO when I was younger but I really do like it here. I live in the far East Central part of the state but get around quite a bit, especially in the fall. I...
