I am not sure if you still need this service but the reason why they do not thread your barrel muzzle until they have the suppressor on hand is to make sure the thread matches and it is properly indexed/timed. Some have a recommended indexed/timed setting, i.e. logo must be at the 12 o'clock...
I have an Eliteiron Bravo SD ...
... that I can also on any caliber/chambering .30 cal and smaller that are threaded 5/8-24".
On my 6.5 CM, I do not need ear protection.
Sometimes they expire differently. Both harvests have minimal meat damage. Well, where I hunt elk is open too, and I have a bull and cow and a black bear tag. I do not carry different rifles for each game. The bottom-line it boils down to a personal choice of rifle set-up/chambering/load...
Agreed! But sadly, it is often due to poor shot placement.
I like the heart/lung area for a higher percentage shot, and even if I blow the entire vital area, meat loss is still not bad.

Lung shot taken @ 250 with .300 WSM 215 Berger
The versatility of the venerable .30-06 is no slouch with the right load and "NUT" behind the trigger, just saying.
Another option is to put together (an excellent DIY project for the family) a semi-custom together for under a grand depending on your component choices, i.e., Savage...
Thompson/Center Arms.
I have a Compass in 6.5 CM that I won in a raffle for $20 a couple of years ago.
3-shot group @ 200 yards with factory ammo. She's not pretty, but she shoots.
Agreed! I spent my first 10 years in the USAF working with F-4s and A-10s where noise levels during aircraft generations are 140+ dBs 12-14 hour days. At the time, we wear foamies and earmuffs. It protected me throughout the years. I am one of those people that wear ear, eye, foot, and hand PPEs...
I understand muzzle brakes are not for everybody, but it is the best device to mitigate felt recoil and muzzle rise. With or without muzzle brake, "IF" you truly care about taking care of your hearing, wear protection. There are plenty of effective ear protections, from a few pennies foam types...
Cool! Malmstrom is my last duty assignment. Got here in 2003 and retired in 2007 but still work on base as a civil service since 2007. You can say I am working on my 2nd retirement.
Me too! I originally was going for .30-06 AI. But I figured I had honored Ackley and JOC with my .270 AI, So, this time, it's for Gibbs.
Thanks.
Thanks, I too am looking forward to it. H4831SC, RL17, H1000, IMR 7828 SSC, and H4350 are powders I have already opened to try. I have RL23 and RL26 too for later.
Yes, unlike .30-06 AI, where you can shoot factory ammo. You cannot shoot a factory .30-06 ammo or .30-06 AI in a .30 Gibbs chamber safely.
Far right is .30-06 next to fire-formed COW .30 Gibbs.
