I’ve never been a shed guy. Some bulls I was watching above my house this spring (same unit) stayed in the same spot till they dropped. I grabbed my nephew and climbed the 2700 vertical feet to where they were. There were 6 mature bulls and 9 or so rag horns. I knew nobody had been in...
Hey y'all.
Im going to burn my 13 resident elk points in 2019. I'm going to chrono it on this thread if you don't mind. I like it when others do it.....so here goes.
I moved back home to Utah in the late summer of 2017 after 12 years in Montana and have two season's worth of recon work in...
nice video
looks like it took a long time to edit. lots of times i left the camera in the pack but i was too lazy to did it out, but now regret it
thanks for sharing
Man I wish I had more points. Id buddy up with you and go hunt 38 archery. Wouldn’t guarantee you a bull but plenty of “in elk” situations and some shot opportunities.
Go get a Montana general elk tag and hit eastern Montana and fill it with a cow or spike where applicable.

Both
Both. Put in where you can. My buddy from Billings drew the Wasatch late bull tag that starts next week this year with 4 NR points. You never know. From what I’ve seen in the past few days 310-350 or better should be a pc of cake.
Here’s some pics of four bulls from just this...
I’ve now killed a Bighorn ram, two bull elk and four mule deer with them and I’m still on the fence. That should be all I need to get off of it back to the accubond.
The thing for me is the confidence that they are going to fly great and hit the mark. . After that............
Seems to be much more bear activity on the lower sections of that part of the state than up high. We didn’t even see a track in the Rocky Mtn peak area from 6500-9000 vertical foot range in over a week last fall. Better odds of seeing a grizzly in downtown choteau than on the Mtn it seems.
Last but not least.
I used to love when my dad came home with his quarry. I’m patiently waiting for my kids to go hunting more with me. Kids are naturally drawn to hunting, the antlers, the carcass, ect. There is something primeval about it and it comes naturally for kids.....esp...
Bergara
I used my b14 in 7 mag. My b14 in 6.5 MTmuley is in Wyoming with my buddy. Hopefully killing its 4th mule deer buck in less than a year. Can’t say enough good about these bergaras. The antlers are pretty much sticky to the touch with pine sap. They smell like a fresh cut...
Npaden, I’m sure he’s not. The thirds on the bull in the pics are not long enough to be a match. ESP his left side. Also they are about 6 miles apart. I know they wander but the bull in the hoof is in an area where they usually get sucked the opposite direction from where I killed mine.
Bull down.
Got the wind to my face Monday morning and snuck in to 200 yards or so to 4 different bulls. I was cow calling and bugling the best I could. I was by myself. About an hour of trailing the herd one came for sure my way.
Whatever “the zone” is I was in it. He came to about...
Scouting
One more scouting morning in the books. Saw 17 bulls. They are starting to make noise. Three of them were near cows raking trees and sniffing the air. 3 were shooters but too far to get a good pic.
This bull was very photogenic. He’s got decent length except for the...
