One thing with these Talley Lightweight mounts, at least for the Browning X Bolt you will need a T-15 torx bit with the longer (2") shank if you are going to install with a torque wrench...guess that I will be picking one up.
I just received the Talley Light Weight Ring/Mount System for my Browning X Bolt. It says on the Talley package 17-20" lbs. for the ring screws, but doesn't list a torque spec. for the bases. What torque spec. do you use on the bases for a Browning X Bolt? Thanks.
Anyone here have a Vortex Crossfire II 3-9x 50 w/V-Brite reticle? If so, how do you like it? Optical quality? Illumination system? Low light performance? I am thinking about buying one to go on my muzzleloader (T/C Omega .50 stainless/laminate) for deer hunting. Seems to be good a value...
Ordered 2 boxes of Federal Non Typical 140 gr. 6.5 Creedmoor ammo through Gun Broker for $34.99 a box. They have already been shipped. This ammo in 150 gr. .308 shoots great out of my Winchester Model 70 Featherweight .308.
I just ordered a Browning X Bolt, and I am considering the Talley Integrated aluminum rings/bases for it. Anyone have any experience with these, are they good quality? I usually get the Leupold steel dual dovetail rings and bases for my rifles. I will be mounting a Leupold VX-R 3-9x 50mm with...
Just ordered a new Browning X Bolt Medallion Maple in 6.5 Creedmoor (the Manbun). Been looking at this rifle for awhile. It seems like most people that have them really like their Browning's. I'm excited to get it.
I remember a story about the .460 Wby. mag. I used to work with a guy that also held a FFL license. He was a great guy, and gave us some really good deals on guns, scopes, etc. Anyway, he had an opportunity to shoot a buddy's .460 Wby. mag. He shot it 3 times, shooting it very accurately...
I took a chance and bought a Leupold VX-Freedom 3-9x 50mm w/Firedot Twilight Hunter for my new Model 70 Featherweight, when the VX-3HD w/Firedot Twilight Hunter were still unavailable. Pleasantly surprised...really nice scope! Got a great deal from @schmalts .
Earlier this year I bought a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight in .308. It's my only center fire rifle that's not a magnum. I was surprised at how mild the recoil is, and the amazing accuracy with Federal Non Typical 150 gr. factory ammo. Great little gun!
I have a .257 Wby. mag in a Weatherby Lazerguard...super accurate and to me, mild recoil using Weatherby .257 115 gr. BST ammo. Great deer killer too! Can't comment on the .240 Wby. mag though.
Same here, I hunt deer with a .257 Wby. mag, .264 Win. mag, 7mm Rem. mag, and a .300 Wby. mag. Like you, I have no problem with recoil, and can shoot them all accurately. This year though, I bought a new Win. model 70 FW in .308. What a nice little gun! To me, recoil is almost non-existent...
I've always liked Remingtons, and am currently down to my 700 LSS in 7mm Rem. mag, and my Dad's old 870 Wingmaster 20 ga. I have never had a Browning, and am considering an X-Bolt...good choice?
Shot this busted up 8 pt on 11/26/2021. Didn't realize at the time that besides his left side being damaged, his right side was almost gone. A scrapper for sure. Oh well, I got to break in the new Super Grade .264 Win. mag/Leupold VX-5HD combo.
Yep, long story short...shot placement and bullet construction is where it's at! Have shot deer with everything from a .243 to a .300 Wby. mag, and everything in between...all of the deer died.
