@BoomerUSAF got me hooked on this waterfowl thing last year. I want to shoot 1 more duck than last year! Getting started next weekend with teal season.
Very familiar with them! Haven’t played their league yet, but definitely pickup. I play a lot with JMS Hockey too, if you’re familiar. The awesome thing about Minnesota is there are rinks EVERYWHERE.
Started playing when I moved to Minnesota 10 yrs ago. Felt like a good time to start. 😂 Still not very good, but enjoy playing pickup games just about every week.
I think you already answered when you said the compound feels like work.
I switched when I found myself wanting to practice with my recurve, and would pick up the compound every so often to blow the dust off it. I have yet to actually shoot a deer with the recurve, but I grab it nearly every...
It’s not complicated or messy. If you can’t figure out what a later gun season does for a state like Iowa, I might suggest golf, or maybe collecting stamps.
Quick update, Brandon has been discharged! They had to go in for a second surgery to get the entire thing, and the doctors did just that. He’s flying home to MN on Saturday.
He’s got a long road to recovery, essentially starting from scratch after all the progress he’s made.
Again, many...
Really appreciate everyone’s responses here. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but hunttalk came through in a big way for a brother.
Brandon text me this morning to say how astonished, grateful, and appreciative he for everyone here. Tomorrow is the big surgery day, so please continue to send him...
Many of you have interacted with former member BoomerUSAF throughout the years, and a few of us have been fortunate to call him a friend! He recently deactivated his hunttalk account to focus on his health.
Brandon has suffered from stroke like symptoms as a result of a carvonoma on his brain...
Rubber bands around the parts that grip the arrow work great. Cheap too. I bought new arrows and quiver this year and the shop that sold me the quiver suggested that.
My final draw of the year opened last Saturday, and I’d planned to hunt it pretty hard. That plan was upended when my wife broke her ankle the day before, and with her being on crutches, with dogs, in a split level house, she needs serious help to manage. I may make it out for a small game hunt...
That is interesting. I can’t figure out what the deal is, other than perhaps the dry summer messing with browse or mast or something? I’ve been keeping an individual sit journal for the past 5 years or so in which I log sightings and such. This year is an anomaly for sure.
Great question! November has been hectic with life, and I apparently haven’t updated this in a while!
With gun hunting opening in the first Saturday of November, I hit the ground running. The morning of opener was pretty quiet without much shooting in the piece I was on. For the evening hunt...
Nope. I don’t have anything on it. Just a hook for my platform when I’m coming down. I just daisy chain my lineman and put it in my backpack when I’m at height.
I use a saddle almost exclusively. Hunting public land, it’s really the best option as far as packing in and out every sit. My entire setup fits in a backpack, so I don’t have to worry about scraping brush and whatnot. I’d recommend it. Here’s what I’ve found.
I had a mantis, and am a decent...
Got out this morning to the same general area I was at on Sunday. I shifted about 40 yards closer to where the action was. I got settled before first light, and ended up sitting for a few hours. I saw one forkhorn, and I’m pretty sure I saw him on Sunday morning as well. He stayed behind me in...
